The ending to MGS1 where Liquid suddenly dies from the FoxDie reeks of deus ex machina.

Not really, it’s pretty well foreshadowed.

I might have to replay MGS1.

I wondered why Revolver Ocelot has Liquid Snake’s hand, then I remembered that Ocelot lost his hand in the first game.

The intro mentions Snake being injected with various drugs, ostensibly to help him survive the arctic conditions. Then people keep randomly dying when they meet him. Turns out it’s because his pre-mission injections was a engineered virus.

The real ex machina is how it doesn’t kill Snake at all. But later games explained that with their go-to BS (Nanomachines, son).

Just started MGS2, and the controls are VASTLY better than they were in MGS1.

What’s keeping SEGA from doing something like this?

MGS games aren’t very long, are they?

depends on if you’re watching the cutscenes or not and if you know what you’re doing or not

Without the movie-length cutscenes by the guy who really wishes to be a movie director, no. They legit can be beaten in only a couple hours or so.

I’ve finished the story of Freedom Planet 2 today for our neighborhood gay dragon expert. Sonic styled games never appealed to me (outside of Adventure DX, though I think that reinforces what I mean considering that game’s style), so this game scratches and itch I don’t have. The story is what got me hook, though. It was a nice story. Honestly, glad I played it just for that. That and the quotes I plan to use as memes.

So since MK 1 is a reboot of the franchise

And Reptile was the secret kharacter in the original MK 1 before becoming their own fighter in the next game

(Pink) Floyd’s unlock konditions are very reminiscent of Reptile’s, yeah. Apparently he plays more like Chameleon though.

…even though the original Reptile also stole moves from Scorpion and Sub Zero, so it’s more like Chameleon stole Reptile’s original gimmick.
