Don't blame me, I voted for the other guy. (Politics General)

Well, the good news is that if Trump’s back, that probably means that Cozy Glow is as well, right? We all know that there’s not a single writer for MLP that could stand Trump at all. And since Cozy Glow originally got that totally unsatisfying ending that basically said she shouldn’t be part of the world, now the writers need to do a story where she’s given power all over again. Right?
Please just let me have this. I’m not a Trump supporter at all, I’m just looking for some silver lining. With G4 returning via the comics and a possible reboot coming as well, we can all agree that this ought to be the story, right? ALL HAIL PRINCESS GOLLY!!!!!!!!!

I think it will depend rather other countries will get drawn into it. India will like Trump a lot as it is a religious right dictatorship itself. Latin-America will hate the US but be powerless to stop it like always. The real wild card is the EU. Rather it will be drawn in or reject America.

I’ve heard that Europe is going Right, so it’ll probably be drawn in. I guess I’m unthinkably radical left now, and the one time I took a political compass test I ended up 1 to the left.

@Wiimeiser
Yeah even though the only thing the far right is interested in is scapegoating. They don’t even pretend to have legit solutions to people’s problems. They usually even create the problems they are scapegoating people for.
But if you can successfully scapegoat that is not an issue. After all if you fail then it’s not your responsibility but the one of the scapegoat.
Here they are reducing the funding for welfare at the same time they are complaining that migrants take too much of it.

I think the fact that there hasn’t been any mass outbreak of protests or riots in cities in response to the results is telling. People just don’t have the energy anymore.
So you prefer for people to have the energy to protest and riot after a democratic election where the people who reside in the 50 states of the Unite States of America had the freedom and right to vote for the next president?
You prefer riots of violence, division, anarchism, hate speech, etc, above the respectful union of the people of North America no matter who their family members, friends, neighbors, co workers, etc, voted for?
That is the type of events you want to occur and be part of history after a democratic election?
Protests and riots caused by other people while you are comfortable and safe inside your private property and chatting on a forum of politics while you are exercising your free speech on the internet along with individuals of other parts of the world?
The fact why is not happening, is because the people don’t care who gets elected as president. They care to be civilized citizens, and they prefer union and mutual respect towards their opposites.

I do and I’m tired of pretending that I don’t.

So looking more into the vote share, it looks like all six of my points may be at play. MAGAland didn’t get bigger, but Democratic turnout CRATERED. Trump won with 3 million fewer votes than he got in 2020. Harris won 15 million fewer votes than Biden did in 2020.

If people are depressed right now, fine.
It’s mostly a matter of how they feel as a whole a month from now.
People can change, not everyone and not always quickly but they CAN change.

Honestly, there’s still the 2026 midterms.
Maybe 1-2 years, but we gotta vote in 2026.

They did do a lot for voters but not enough it seems. The question though is what more could they have done as the ambitious plan was completely blocked by the fillibuster. It seems America has come to a level of corruption where good governance is just impossible and since the democrats rely on good governance they really can’t do much. They aren’t build on scapegoating and bigotry like the republicans are so they can’t exist in a dysfunctional government.
marinus18

@Background Pony #51AF
The republicans though will struggle cause Trump is old and their bigotry and scapegoating can only get them so far without him. They aren’t build on good governance like the democrats are so they have very little substance.
Everything has always done better under democrats, the economy, civil rights, diplomacy and more. Because their party focuses on good governance so they need to govern well to maintain credibility. Republicans don’t rely on that but they rely on fear and bigotry which they need to manufacture.

@Surprise
???????? I don’t get it. What does that have to do with anything? American influence is via it’s megacorps. I hope you don’t seriously buy into all the virtue signalling.
The only influence of the US that I have seen is spreading of toxic prudishness where people become ashamed of their own body and those of others.

I wholeheartedly expect Democratic analysts to conclude they “went too far left” and join in blaming queer rep and “DEI.” It’s lose-lose with them, as I expect they’d have moved right even if they’d won.

@CaptainXtra
Why? Today has proven that the people are stupid. Republicans will keep winning because their donors own the media and can continuously brainwash the masses to either become rabid cultists or apathetic to the plights of their fellow man. And alternative media is no better, just filled with extremists on both ends of the political aisle talking bullshit and misinformation. We had a chance to change for decades and we’ve only gotten worse. What makes you think things will get better? Democracy has only decayed as the years have gone on. Republicans understood this, and Democrats are too weak to capitalize on it.
