… Ok, all joking aside, I do feel like the expectation (though not necessarily the reality) for a lot of the pornographic material produced is that the main consumer is going to be (relatively) straight guys. And I’d even say I suspect there are statistics supporting that, although whether that’s legitimately because guys just have that much harder a time controlling their baser instincts or because the entire situation’s a self fulfilling prophecy due to the other groups not being catered too as much, is a harder question to answer. Plus there’s a general cultural thing where straight girls are almost expected to be disgusted by pornography (which again, if the predominant variety is focused towards straight guys, might be an alternative explanation why).

There’s a reason it’s a stereotype that women in fandoms are usually well known for writing lots of fanfics (a thing I am very familiar with) and usually about shipping two or more guys together. of course for whatever reason, this stereotype is also more attacked than the alternative, and usually by other women too. I wish I understood Tumblr’s logic behind hating everything, and then turning around to do the exact same thing they say they hate.
