PMD are their own breast compared to the mainline games, honestly.

And to me, the connection between pokemon and humans feel less harmonious and more inconsistent. Sometimes it feels like the devs can’t even decide if they are animals like cats and dogs or very intelligent creatures, which makes the fact that you can breed them concerning when they try the latter. Monster Hunter it’s a simple “you are the apex predator and need to stop the monsters from causing too much harm to your home and the ecosystem.”

What? What’s wrong with enjoying a family friendly franchise?

It’s the framing of your relationship with the franchises as a whole. It’s one thing “to go back” to Pokemon or whatever to have a Chill Time. But to then also sublimate your relationship to it to claim it occupies a higher dramaturigcal position than it actually has is a Completely Different Thing which suggests the Gamer equivalent of having not “touched grass”.

Except this is an unpopular opinion thread and not the debate thread, or even a debate thread where people who all generally hold the same general opinion on a subject discuss the degree to which the opinion matters. Because then you’re not holding an unpopular opinion, you’re holding a common opinion with degrees. You have to come in here with some Real Freak Shit. You have to say the new Pokemon games are good if the case that everyone who holds a opinion on them is the opinion that “they’re bad”. Otherwise, go to the Vent thread

Well, I’ll say that yeah a lot of the opinions here sometimes can be not that unpopular.

But I think many opinions like mine are at least divisive.

Sorry I don’t have some ultra extreme opinion like Videos Games Ruined Society, but I don’t feel the need to give the most ludicrous opinions just to put it on here.

I don’t think we should just put any milquetoast opinion here, but one that causes disagreement I think is the point of this thread even if it’s not absolute hottest take.

Anyways I’m done with this debate I just wanted to clear that up. I’ll probably be done with this thread for now.

I think that the Joss Whedon brand of snarky humor writing has caused serious, potentially irreversible damage to writing as a whole, and to scriptwriting in particular. Because, just like how everybody thinks they could be a great teacher just because they’ve been to school at some point in their lives, everybody thinks that after watching just a few examples of his work, they can write just like him. Which leads to media being flooded with inferior imitations of an already really not all that great writing style.
