You seem to not realize supply and demand. If there is a demand for something, someone will take the opportunity to fill it. If Disney goes under, than people will see that gap and fill it in. They also will likely try harder than Disney did since they have to earn their audience, where Disney already have their audience by the balls.

But not even the supporters or the people who like it because of YGO, Pokémon, TMNT and Sonic X (if there are any, ironic or not) couldn’t save it. At all.

You say that like there isn’t anime that was already made for kids to begin with (Pokémon, Doraemon, post 5Ds Yu-Gi-Oh, etc).

Stuff like One Piece, Shaman King, and the original Yu-Gi-Oh weren’t made for kids, and editing it down to target that audience is a slap in the face to it’s real target audience, and an insult to the original versions.

Both of them were still aimed at kids in Japan. They just have slightly different standards than the U.S.

And most of those moments occurred in the mid 90s and early 2000s anyway.

It’s why those series (and Modern Yu-Gi-Oh) still get censored despite having the same audience across the board.

Of course, I highly doubt Yu-Gi-Oh would’ve gotten censored as badly if it didn’t air on a network station.

Still, it’s decisions like a second compilation of Final Fantasy VII content for marketing and corporate purposes (because one compilation wasn’t enough) that makes me appreciate how Calvin and Hobbes doesn’t have official marketing like plushies, towels, underwears or tattoos.

I’m not talking about pirated stuff, I’m talking about official merchandise. These stickers are not like a Final Fantasy VII poster with Sephiroth, a statue of Cloud’s sword or the collectors editions of these FFVII games. These are official.
