Well, the ironic part is, if the feminists would just stop the brony bashing, maybe, just maybe, bronies wouldn’t feel compelled in trying to research feminism and finding the common MRA talking points and becoming feminist critical to feel validated in their dislike for the movement, who hates them for no good reason. Even if there are some fans that are not the best of people, why must these individuals always be defined as the face of bronydom and what’s with the blithering hate anyways for just this one fandom?
 
Drawn porn about adult anthropomorphic ponies is not a damn feminist issue, no matter how much you try to brute force it. Feminist crusades against BDSM should have been a wake up call, on how you don’t try pulling this shit and expect to be heralded as an open minded person.
 
Feminists don’t exist on an isolated bubble and they greatly underestimate how much social influence and negative effects they have on others, with the hate they are currently spreading.

MLP has many female followers and people with different national origins, so yes, when someone tries to say that men stole MLP from women, they honestly show quite subtle misogynistic ways of thinking, in trying to erase women as a notable % of the whole fandom and how condescending their attitudes towards women are, who don’t feel strongly about feminism or don’t have an issue with men.
 
The job of any social movement is to become obsolete one day, which feminism is doing a good job in, but maybe not in the way they were hoping for.

If the movement is so strong and relevant, why do they need to go on the attack against everyone that doesn’t fall in line? Way to make the movement show its cracks.
 
Also, them using their weight to have major publications cover this is again, legitimizing complaints their extremist opponents have of them having all media on a tight leash with a bias they tell them to have.

It’s the “with-us-or-against-us” mentality. The truth is…the vast majority of people simply don’t care. The general public is mostly neutral, but “neutral” to them means “not an ally”, and “not an ally” means “enemy”. Hence the hyper-defensive-ness.

Speaking strictly for myself, I don’t really like “women against feminism” because most of the complaints seem to boil down to “I don’t need feminism because I am not a victim.” The vast majority of such complaints seem to come from young, middle class white women who have likely never had to suffer many hardships before, and none of them seem to consider that other women might not be so fortunate.
 
It all boils down to the standard conservative “fuck you, I got mine” philosophy.

It’s not a strawman. Just look at that article where a bunch of women were holding up anti-feminist signs such as this (http://www.rawstory.com/rs/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/against-feminism-7.png) and this (http://www.rawstory.com/rs/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/against-feminism-3.png) basically saying that they don’t need feminism because they themselves have not experienced anything that would have disadvantaged them.
 
People like this seem to forget that feminism isn’t about the individual. It’s not about you or your problems. It’s about the collective problems of all women that need to be solved.

To be fair, this is also a mistake that most of the SJW-type feminists on Tumblr make. They identify as feminist not for the collective needs of all women, but purely for their own personal comfort.
 
People in general need to realize that any social movement for equality is not about yourself, it’s about everyone else.

Last I checked the best welfare states in the world were either managed or voted in by right wingers.  
The canadian system got the Red Tory vote as a “take care of your own” campaign
 
And Australia is largely run by Eisenhower conservatives

Remember white people: You have to feel guilt for the crimes of your ancestors but you cannot feel pride in their accomplishments. Everyone else is allowed to be proud of their ancestors but doesn’t have to feel guilty for anything they did or their people continue to do.

Those problems still seem like a socio-economical issues in America, more than strictly feminist issues, even when feminism is right in pointing out the discrepancies, that very commonly spring forth in such a system that leaves capitalism completely unchecked.
 
Tensions between groups are usually kept in check, when there is a rise in economy and everyone has a somewhat comfortable lifestyle, but once its gone, racism and other forms of bigotry become the most apparent.
 
I just don’t see feminism being the primary solution to all the social problems in America, even when I do consider the organization being on the right track at times.

Honestly, if you feel bad by acknowledging that sexism exists, then that’s more of an issue on your end more than anything. I’ll admit I can sympathize to some extent, but I’m mostly just confused as to why anyone would think hurt feelings are the most important issue here.
 
Anyway, I’m going to bow out of this thread. I thought this would be about the really crazy “I’m a transethnic otherkin with three headmates” social justice stuff, but this is just far too political and indicates that this thread was never about the extremists.

Europe did fuck over a lot of Africa and settler’s colonies (not about white people settling there as racists claim, but rather money being invested heavily in them) like Nigeria, South Africa, and Ghana are much better off than ones that were just land grabs.
 
It’s no coincidence that those colonies were all British, and Britain let go of its colonies the easiest.
