Unpopular opinion time (super alpha no pony edition)

You have to pay an internet fee for consoles, too.

Granted, no online subscription fee isn’t the biggest draw but it is a draw for PC gaming, since you can get an extra game instead of paying $20-$60 a year to play online. Online is a pretty basic feature and I don’t see why it needs to be tied to a subscription.

It’s fine to not be interested in PC gaming, man. I understand that not everyone wants to set aside the time to put one together or deal with the hassle of maintenance and having to figure out what’s wrong if something goes awry, as well as start up costs if you want something to last a while and run modern games.  
I just get a little annoyed when people make misconceptions about it.

I’m sorry. I have a distinct problem with not shutting the fuck up, especially when it comes to things I don’t know anything about. I’m trying to learn how to just bite my tongue and not say anything, but it’s a struggle.

I mean it’s not like you’re deliberately spreading misinformation. I’ve seen many a console fanboy do that. I’ve also seen PC gamers do that too, though. Like PC gaming is cheap. Cuz it really isn’t, at least in the short-term.

Not like that. I meant TV Shows, movies and even music meant to replicate a feel of the 90’s like the previous decades did.

Can’t imagine how a ’90s revival in music would even work, unless pop artists were to spontaneously start using actual instruments again. Either that or skip past the entirety of grunge and alternative rock and focus solely on, I dunno, Eurodance or something.

I mean depending on the artist, pop stars have used instruments before and some still do now so.
 
For a revival of this decade judging by the musical landscape, I would imagine a revival of gangsta rap or old school R&B, but it never transpired. The closest thing we got musically was boy bands returning, rap dance crazes and that’s about it.

Boy bands returned earlier this decade, yes, but it was nowhere near as overblown as the TRL Wars of the ‘90s, where there were the different factions (*NSYNC vs. Backstreet Boys), as The Wanted fizzled out after only one hit and Big Time Rush never took off like Nickelodeon was hoping they would, leaving One Direction as the default victors.
 
Then again, something similar could still happen with all the K-pop boy bands coming out lately.

Indeed. But hey, many singers nowadays can’t even carry a tune without pitch correction, and apparently have never once been told “no” in their lives, so they think they’re all that when they really aren’t.

You may not know her name, but you have definitely heard her work. She was one half of The Weather Girls, the group that performed “It’s Raining Men,” and she also sang the titular hook of C+C Music Factory’s “Everybody Dance Now.” But in the latter video, she wasn’t credited, and the music video showed a younger, thin woman lip-syncing to her lines.
 
Music is the one business where it seems like image shouldn’t matter, as it’s a business literally dictated by sound as opposed to visuals, but it seems like it’s just the same as every other industry.

Singers nowadays? Dude, we’ve had talentless hacks for forever, you should know this by now. The early 1960’s is often considered one of the darkest periods for music because you had a fuck ton of teenage idols hired for their good looks rather than for their singing abilities and when MTV came along, it was the same deal when artists and bands began producing outlandish flashy music videos with outlandish flashy outfits in order to get the big bucks regarding of whether they can keep a tune.

I’m well aware that this has existed in some form or another for a while now, calm down.
 
The reason I say nowadays is that with sites like Soundcloud, it’s easier than ever for literally anyone to become a singer. You don’t even need a record label, a manager, or anyone giving a quality check. Unfortunately, that means that we get a ton of people who have zero talent whatsoever–as in, they can’t even carry a gorram tune–and who have been showered with praise all their lives and have never once been told to redo a take, so they think they can just nail it in one take and rely on pitch correction to fix it up.
 
I don’t know, though. Perhaps I’m just bitter due to the BS I’ve been encountering at work.

It really is. I think they did finally credit her after the lawsuit, and soon after she joined the group as a permanent member. So at least she’s finally getting recognized for her powerful voice.
