Yeah, I totally admit that. I’m not one of those drop dead brainless lackies that so many of my fellow advertisers are. If something’s bullcrap and won’t work I’ll tell the commissioner straight out, “Hey dude, your idea won’t work cause this, this, this, this, this and this isn’t being spun in the proper way”.

The proper way of advertising is to lie by ommission and leave out any negativity. Embellishing the truth does jack shit and won’t work when advertising, but unfortunately too many of fellow advertisers go, “derp hurp people r t3h stoopid thall nevar tell this photoshopped”. The proper way of photoshopping pictures of women during a photoshoot is to take hundreds of photos and then painstakingly go through each individual one until you have the best one that has zero imperfections then go through and put it in and work on it; but there’s too many fucking idiots that thing putting a cheap ass filter on a photograph in photoshop will fool people.

I could go on for hours about how many fucking idiots there are in my field and why the field is going to go extinct in only a couple years, but the short version is, “too many fucking idiots”.

Rather than going into a long explanation of why I’m going back to college that’s pretty much the whole story in four words. The whole field isn’t going to be around in a couple years cause too many fucking idiots. Sure companies like google, yahoo and other companies will still have their own advertising divisions, but the days of old where a ad agency does everything is fucking dead. Nowadays you’re lucky if there’s even a mass production printer in a agency. Printing and actual production is almost always outsourced now; all agencies do now is designing.

Tl:dr; Too many fucking idiots tanked the industry.

Bethesda is given a lot of leeway considering how busted their games are
Skyrim makes Battlefield 4 and Batman: Arkham Origins look like they have no issues with bugs, glitches, save corruption, etc

You’d be surprised just how stupid some people are. I mean, industries that essentially/literally put poison into their products and/or exploit cheap labor that is essentially slavery are doing better than ever.

Actually I stand corrected;
Advertising as a industry isn’t going to by extinct in the next decade; it’s going to be extinct as a whole in the next three years. So yeah, it’s a good thing I’m going back to college in the summer cause if I had waited any longer I probably would be up shit creek without a paddle.

True, but it was also the first Fallout game to come to consoles (that was an abortion of dungeon crawler,) and the first decent one in years. I agree with you though, New Vegas is the superior product both for the ways it returned to the feel and setting of the first two games and for the ways it deviated.

No, they should be united with the wandering hand-helders and those who remain in their ivory PC-towers so that we might all partake and share in the joy that is video game.

No. There is room enough for all types of gaming fans in the world and PC gaming is actually gaining quite a bit of steam these days, enough so that developers who ordinarily wouldn’t touch the PC with a ten foot pole are porting their games to it, even if the ports are a bit clunky at times (cough Dark Souls cough cough).

I think what amazes me most about ME3’s ending is the fact that it disappointed me… Despite the fact I was not expecting a great ending.

I was expecting the equivalent of a big red button that says “Do not press” which destroys all the Reapers.

All I know is that /v/ hates consoles and blames them for holding back the industry.

I don’t hate consoles, but I do think ( to use an overused term) they are casual.
Because the whole appeal of consoles is the pop in and play thing.

Nah, it’s not consoles that are holding back the industry; rather it’s call of duty. The only way now to be super successful right now is to be be call of duty. I hope the franchise continues to go down sales wise and that EA burns in a fire, cause too many good games are trying to appeal to the call of duty consumer base.

It’s not CoDs fault that posers exist.
Even though I don’t like CoD I would rather it existed and kept the squeakers in one place than have them infect my franchises

I imagine this is how the meetings at EA go.

@Whatevs
Ain’t nothing wrong with casual. Though I get the impression the term’s usage tends to be more for the user to feel better about himself.

Well if it weren’t for call of duty we would have more genuinely good games though. The reason why everything EA turns to shit is that believe that turning any video game into call of duty makes it a good game.

The whole debacle with mass effect 3 was cause they shoved it out the door and thought that mass effect’s consumer base was the same people that play COD.

I so want to see how call of duty is going down the toilet actually mean the death of the franchise(over the last two years the franchise has lost 40% of their sales), cause we’d stop seeing companies thinking that you have to be call of duty to be successful.

Casual gaming certainly has a right to exist. It fills a niche, that niche being something simple and fun for when you want to blow off some steam or kill some time.

However we presently have an overabundance of casual games, almost to the point of self parody. This is at least partially due to the fact that an angry birds style time waster is loads easier and cheaper to make than say a hard core turn based strategy game. The more hard core a game is, then the more work needs to be put into it in order to make sure everything in perfectly balanced.

This then breeds a belief that people are morons and that the lowest common denominator is where the money is at and so casual game features get added to genres that have previously been viewed as hardcore, and so gaming as a whole suffers.

The good news is that casual games were massively overhyped though. For a while the news was overhyping casual gaming, but only one tenth of the video gaming industry’s profits comes from casual games.

If a news segment talks about casual gaming being, “the next big wave” it’s bullcrap cause iphone games and such don’t rake in as much money as people would like us to believe.
