I preffered the idea of Twilight Sparkle having to put up with an egocentric stallion over the egocentric mare we ended up with in the show. (Since Trixie was originally supposed to be a stallion in the show apparently.) So I damn well was gonna draw “Trixter”!
Funny how years later that little bit of episode-creation lore would kind of trigger the whole “trixie is trans” movement that later came in the fandom and internet culture writ large.

I dunno, man. On one hand, yes, it would have the first biggish straight ship (not sure if BigMac ships had taken off that early on), but this fandom is really big on lesbian/gay ships. People might’ve avoided it because “too vanilla”.

Let’s be honest.
 
If Trixie had been male as planned, the Twixie (Twixter?) ship would have been impregnable (see what I did there) and no other Twilight pairing would have had even the slimmest of chances of competing in sheer popularity
