Yes, Pepper’s head disappears for a single frame before the scene changes.

Here we see pony plushes being used to test new medical technology: bodies grown without the head, so that in case someone gets some crippling and/or life-threatening disease in their body, they can have their head transplanted onto one of these. Once the research and development teams are done with pony plush trials, they’ll move to pony, then human trials. We expect head transplants to allow people to have fresh, unhandicapped bodies, and to save many lives, by as soon as 2035.
 
So don’t be icked out; think instead; if AJ were to break her neck in some terrible farm accident and become quadrapalegic (paralyzed from neck down), or were to contract a terminal disease in her body (heart, lungs, intestines, kidney, you name it), she could be saved and have a new, perfectly healthy body thanks to this technology.
