Duck - Quacks for Rainbow Dash

If this keeps up, Spike will probably develop a pathological fear of closed doors. Probably will take hours for him to work up the courage to go near one for fear of it bursting open right in to him. Hell, just the sound of a door opening in the background will probably make him jump out of his skin and go into a nervous breakdown.

Well, there’s not liking them, and there’s the honest-to-God belief that every single writer hates Spike, and they make him the comic relief in order to mock him.

not all the writers, i’m sure M.A. Larson is the only writer who didn’t try to make Spike look bad in every episode he’s written, a good example would be “Secret of My Excess” and “Amending Fences”

For the record, I think the writers do treat Spike terribly. I don’t go around posting a bunch of times on a comment thread arguing pointlessly about it and calling people “bundles of sticks” (which will get you banned btw).

I actually liked aspects of Mare-Do-Well, more specifically Rainbow Dash and how sympathetic it made her out to be. Points to the writer for that, even though the rest of the episode failed.

Spike’s had some good episodes. It’s just his very first episode in season 1, which was rather poor and been done before, set a kind of ‘standard’ in the mind of others that his episodes aren’t that good. As well, season 2-3 was very hit and miss for Spike, with Secret of My Excess turning into out to be a good episode, but it wasn’t Spike’s fault as a character things got out of hand, it was his biological makeup.

I think since Season 4, his episodes are turning out for the better, since the writers have finally got a hold of how to write his character in the spotlight. Which is good. Princess Spike in my opinion was good. Well, okay really, but it had Cadance and Fancy Pants in prominant roles, so that bumped up the episode for me.

Not bad, just weak. Take Princess Spike, it wasn’t bad, just kinda dull to a lot of people. People would watch it once out of the fact that it’s new but would not really feel the urge to watch it again if it was on. People who criticize Spike episodes (the semi-regular ones like me, hopefully) believe that every character has a weak episode here and there, they just believe that Spike seems to fall into that weak episode cycle more often than a character should. If you thought his/other character’s episodes were good or at least not bad, more power to you.

Honestly, I haven’t felt that there has been a bad episode, barring Mare-do-Well, that is.
Some that could be better? Yeah. Mediocre? a few. Outright bad? Not really, no.

I guess it depends what ‘it’ is. If ‘it’ is slapstick, every character gets it (I just find slapstick as a whole kinda dull, but that’s just me) when it comes to what some consider bad writing, he does seem to get it a lot (but so do the CMC and Fluttershy late S2 and S3 and pretty much every character once in a while)

People who want to be told they’re right instead of having a discussion.
I’m fucking with you, people who complain about Spike being the character with the most slapstick
Yoga is boring

@Deserter
That should mean people should be more civil, not that the discussion should not be had in the first place, especially if there is legitimate issues to talk about. As long as both sides can respectfully put their ideas on the table, no one has to get banned.

We actually at one point had a pretty good discussion and analysis of why it may feel “wrong” to some people when Spike gets mistreated sometimes rather than another character, but I don’t want to discuss it when I’m just going to be called a “Spike Justice Warrior”.

You people should learn to discuss without attacking people so much sometime, and with “you people” I mean all you people who use this site. Seriously, the discussions on this site are some of the least civilized I’ve come across.
