Since we know Fluttershy was Discord’s first friend, either he doesn’t consider the smooze a friend, or he became friends more recently.

We have one Galloping Gala on screen and it’s an annual event.
 
In Sweet and Elite, Twilight says “All of those ponies look so posh. And with the Grand Galloping Gala coming up, I bet you could totally get some of them to buy your dresses. Very smart!”
 
Presumably that Gala would have happened sometime during season 2 or 3 and either the Mane six did not attend or they did offscreen. If the upcoming Smooze episode takes place during the Grand Galloping Gala that makes three years in show.
 
Again only if the episode takes place during the Grand Galloping Gala. It’s possible that “Sweet and Elite” took place before “The Best Night Ever”, I’m assuming that all the seasons are in chronological order relative to each other. That may be incorrect since theres been some speculation that some episodes in the same season may not be in the same chronological order as their air dates.
 
Going over the transcript for “Princess Twilight Sparkle” I can’t find where it’s mentioned that the Summer Sun Celebration in that episode was the next one after the celebration that happened in the first episode.

I never said that he’d be a villain now. I just meant it in the sense of “bringing back characters who were villains in previous generations.” Whether they remain villains in FIM depends on the character.
