I was assuming he meant villains from previous generations. I’m pretty sure Scorpan was a bad guy in his original appearance.

Maybe they are bringing back other villains and the Smooze is just a distraction. It would be pretty cool if we got to see Scorpan.

I don’t think they said that it was the next Sun Celebration after the one when they first met. Maybe I have to re-watch it just in case.

When the second Sun Celebration came up, they established it was the one directly after the one in the premiere, that would only point at one year.

I can’t help but wonder if the staff went “alright so we’ve had tirek, should we put in the other big g1 villain and just be done with it?”

Really wondering if Smooze is a creation of Discord or something he found in this.

If it is the Grand Galloping Gala, it implies at least three years have passed since the start of the show. Three since we have one on screen and Twilight references the Grand Galloping Gala coming up in season 2.

If Grogar makes an appearance, have David Kaye voice him.

Of course Smooze is a friend of Discord.
