I’m sorry who are you are you a background character?
Chad Rocco did that.
Then explain episodes when he’s the focus.
Spike’s pretty underrated instead of a background character.
There’s also the fact that asking Twilight about her part in everything would reveal the whole “test” aspect of the whole thing, and I imagine Celestia is pretty eager to keep it and Twilight’s reaction to it deep under wraps.
Well, the only ones who played parts in actually saving the Empire were Spike, Twilight, Shining and Cadance. Cadance has just as big a spot in the window and is the Princess of the Empire.
Shining Armor’s part seemed rather small since it was Cadance making the shield in the first place (And it’s hard to glorify a guy for javelin-throwing his wife off of a balcony). The only thing we can assume beyond that is him working in some way like he would as a Captain of the Guard, which, like Military service, is something to be honored, but in the eyes of the masses, not the big story here.
Twilight’s part was more major than her brother, but at the same time, none of the Crystal Ponies saw it. Yes, they may know her as the one organizing the Fair, but not much more than that.
Spike played a good role, both in support to Twilight (And getting her away from The Door), and jumping down with The Heart. And while the former may have been the more helpful thing he did, it was the latter that more eyes saw.
The point is, as far as most of the Crystal Ponies see of the event, it’s their Princess and Spike riding in to save the day and beat Sombra, and both are probably honered as the heroes. the difference being that Cadance is already Princess and a high rank and power, Spike not so much, so it’s more of a people’s (pony’s?) tale, like some nobody suddenly saving the day. Cadance is royalty already, and probably honored daily and already held in high esteem, so for Spike it’s kinda like they raise him to the level of Hero or Knight.
This is true. Credit was not properly assigned. But after all the worship and praise those ponies have been given (by the characters and the fans), who gives a shit about them?
Because they’re not as big as some people make them out to be. Personally I hate that he’s the only one who gets credit for saving the empire the first time when many others played a part in helping to save it.
Well, actually, since pretty much all we’ve seen of the Empire is the one city, and we know there were plenty of visitors to the Games, that one section might have been the whole Empire. How many Crystal ponies are there, anyway?
You’re one to talk of butthurt, the Equestria Games thing wasn’t saving the Crystal Empire, that’s not downplaying it, no one said he didn’t save ponies, it’s stating a fact.
I can’t believe people like you are literally so butthurt about Spike’s accomplishments you have to actively downplay them.
You’re absolutely right. Stopping an ice ball from taking out a small section of the stadium doesn’t qualify as saving an entire empire.
>Although AKR seems to think Spike is one and even admits to blocking him out of episodes.
Source?
That’s what you get when you have writers who don’t know what to do with a character.
He didn’t have a child’s mindset in the earlier seasons. The writers made him more like a child as the show went on.
I would love to see someone punch Spike, do no damage, and get beaten to a pulp by the mane six.
Yeah, but I just like his character that much. I don’t know why, but whenever he talks I feel like punching him. I really didn’t like him in filly vanilli.
But snarky spike was so witty.
I find it weird that he has a child’s mind even though he is only a couple years younger than twilight. He should have at least a teenager’s mind. But then again it’s a children’s show and children don’t look into these things.
All of them. But that’s just me.
If Spike is a main character, then so are the CMC (and note I’m not saying he or they shouldn’t be, just that all are on pretty much the same level of character development and whatever, which is obviously NOT on par with the mane six). The only reason Spike has gotten more screentime then the CMC is because the show revolves around Twilight as a main character and as her assistant he obviously shows up a lot, even if a lot of the time it is in very minor roles or more or less in the background in episodes.
And yes he did get a throne, but as it’s Twilight’s castle and he’s her full time assistant it would have been weird if he didn’t. Case in point his throne is smaller than the others and attached to Twilight’s, meaning that he’s not quite on equal footing with the others.
Which personality are you referring to snarky spike(my favorite version) from seasons 1-2, idiot ball spike of season 3 or semi-backround spike of season 4.
Why does it have to be a dragon?
