Well, new anyway.
I think there are merits to either style - it’s not a straight style upgrade like you sometimes get, it’s more of a style change.
 
True. However, the artist herself states:
 
Image is a remake from a VERY old drawing of mine. I don’t want to even link it it looks so bad to me now.
 
So she, at least, thinks the new version is an improvement.

Her mane and tail would probably feel like the softest and most comfortable things ever. They are so good that you can even sleep on them. But you would have to ask Celestia first if you want to play with her mane and tail.
