To feed your carnivorous pets who would probably die (or at the very least get really sick) on a plant only diet.
Also, real life horses can eat meat too. So with that being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if some ponies eat fish once in a while.

Another good point. Kind of like how tomatoes and pumpkins are biologically cosidered to be botanically fruit but to people who prepare food (like chefs) they’re considered culinary vegetables.
I mean, it’s technically meat. But it’s not considered meat.
