Discords magic is directly linked with his thoughts, which are random, so his ideas (although they have some basis in logic) are actually chaotic. In this way he’s a lot like pinkie pie. Neither of them thinks about what they’re actually going to do, it’s spontaneous.But I suppose you have point, after all Discords chaos isn’t pure radical chaos, it has a purpose-to entertain and make fun. Pure chaos has no purpose or direction, its purest expression is probably something like an explosion.

Now think about this . When Discord uses his magic with intent then it is not chaos , but magic which obey logic and order (non-chaotic). In light of this his self-proclaimed title as the god of chaos is called into question and it might even question whether he has ever been the god of chaos .

Words to live by. My motto is “there is no fun in being normal”.
 
And when you really think about it, in this day and age, there is no such thing as normal anymore.
