Pretty much a moot point anyway, since Apple Bloom specifies in “Marks and Recreation” that it’s been “several months”, and pinpointing the last episode that shows her making potions won’t change that.

I realize I’m the only one in the fandom who really liked “On Your Marks”, but can people at least acknowledge its existence? (Granted, we also saw Zecora briefly in another CMC episode, “The Fault in Our Cutie Marks”, but she wasn’t seen with Applebloom.)

No, I wouldn’t have liked it. Rumble is not ready for a mark and this episode is showing that there are two sides to the coin.
 
Sure on one side, some folks wanna get their mark ASAP, but Rumble and others don’t because of the tendency to do “what you’re good at” instead of “what you’d like to do”, and despite how the episode wrapped up, he wasn’t wrong. AB hasn’t seen Zecora in several seasons, Scootaloo has hardly touched her scooter, Sweetie Belle hasn’t done any singing or fashion, and the little mare who just was enthralled in painting circles stopped cold when she was making Haiku and only when Rumble pointed it out did she realize that she was GOOD at it, but didn’t WANT to do it.
 
Forcing a mark on Rumble at the end of the episode would just enforce that he was right about everything; that you get your mark “forced” upon you and you’re enslaved to what your marked talent is.
 
The actual lesson was to point out that he is free to keep doing thing and that the mark is just a mark, not a shackle that ties you to doing one thing the rest of your life.
 
Of all things, Rarity is the best example of this. Her mark and skill is locating gemstones, but her life and profession is fashion and decorating and has made a lucrative business that spans equestria, which hardly touches on the gem finding ability other than her occasional dress that includes them.

Maybe. He could have still said “I’m stuck with signing and dancing now, do you want this to happen to you?” and otherwise go in the same basic direction. But it is a lot of trickier writing that way.
 
But it would have been funny as heck :)

I wouldn’t have been upset if that had happened, but it would’ve struck me as really cliched and convenient rather than funny.

If comedy was the goal, he should have had a cutie mark related to food at the end, and be horrified. But then Thunderlane wipes it off with his hoof and puts it in his mouth, because it actually was just a piece of food. And they share a good laugh together.
 
But that would have been a distraction, because comedy wasn’t the only or even main goal of the aesop here.

That’d just ruin the point though.  
This sort of joke is better suited to fanworks.

Eh im agreement with most of yall it would have been amusing but it would have been forced as mentioned.

His mark would be a spatula… with wings. Flight-cooking!  

Or with the royal guards arresting him for treason to the oligarchy

I honestly thought he was going to get a cutie mark relating to his little rebellion, which would have been ironic as hell.

If he did, that would mean “Ask Motherly Scootaloo” called it.
