xD Precisely this, in fact, because of one simple reason.
Generally, people who comment “This” in reply to an earlier comment actually wish to “like” that comment, but “like”ing a comment is not something that’s possible in Derpibooru’s architecture (at least, it’s never been so far).
If such a thing were possible, they could simply hit the “like comment” button instead of replying/quoting the post with “This” written underneath it. :) Simples.
@EvilTon
Every now and then, I’ll make a comment that’s equivalent to “This”, or that adds just a sentence more to a comment I agree with. It’s not because I feel my deathless wisdom (from a BP – ha!) must be read, but because I want the original commenter to know they’re not as alone as they may think.
@BlackPuma
I understand that. Like I said, it’s a pet peeve, ‘cause I feel like “this” shouldn’t be a sentence by itself when there’s a multitude of other words to express approval.
Confession time. It really annoys me when people say “This” and don’t follow up with anything. Like “This is something I agree with”, or “This is relevant to my interests”, or even saying “this” and then giving their own take on the matter. If they’re not gonna contribute to a conversation with anything, why bother including a comment that’s barely a sentence?
This.

But most of the time, they’re superfluous, yes.
That’s a thing you can change? Huh. I did not know that. Thanks for the tip!
Not everyone has it set to show newest first, though. I prefer oldest first - makes it much easier to read conversations.
Yeah, that’s fair enough, I guess.

Oh, haha!
But it’s just a pet peeve of mine.
