I’ll admit I probably get into these kinds of discussions more frequently than I should, but I can assure you this is no “fixation”. Constantly arguing and debating with individuals like you isn’t exactly fun for me either.

Considering your tendency to always jump into these discussions involving Starlight, I’d suggest you to think about whether or not you have a fixation or not.

First, I wasn’t intentionally twisting your words. I legitimately misunderstood what you were trying to convey. Second, I only posted one comment solely to express my feelings towards this post; everything else was in response to replies others directly made to me. Like I said before, the only reason I returned to this piece was to make those responses. I’ve already laid out my criticisms; as far as my own thoughts go, I have nothing more to say. In other words, this is much less a “fixation” and more a desire to not leave people hanging (I’m the kind of person who must make sure there are no loose ends untied). At any rate, I still haven’t displayed the same level of ignorance and overreaction that OP has here.

I never said you’re more petty than whoever made this picture and/or uploaded it. I’m just pointing out that your own fixation with keeping up this discussion is petty as well. It’s basically becoming a case of “Calling the kettle black” with you, and I’m not saying this to antagonize you, I’m just saying it because I believe it’d be better for you to not become what you hate. If you really wanna claim the higher ground, move on from this issue and let it go. Do block the freaking Starlight Drama tag and be done with it.

Interesting; thanks for sharing. It seems OP (SunnySide) is even pettier and more of a hater than I thought. Nothing in the description of that image was defending Starlight from anything; it was merely a celebration of her achievements. Moreover, it seems the only person who was showing intolerance in that post was SunnySide; he outright refused to listen to the artist’s eloquent response even when the artist made it clear that SunnySide was still entitled to his opinion and that he wasn’t trying to invalidate that in any way with his post. (The artist, in fact, even cited this post in a later reply to point out SunnySide’s intolerance and ignorance.) Reviewing all of that, it now seems pretty clear that this post wasn’t just an episode of venting.

I already usually try to avoid drama posts like these, but thanks for the tip anyhow. While I have been finding myself in these kinds of posts more frequently as of late, I can assure you I am certainly not purposefully visiting them on a regular basis; that would drive me insane. In all honestly, if I hadn’t received any replies to my comments here, I would have never returned to this image. Regardless, I’ll try to end things here.

It is (though it certainly feels like OP’s/the artist’s intent here goes beyond venting). But I personally am not troubled with this piece because I strongly identify with her (though I do sympathize with her); rather, I find it tiresome to see yet another piece of art attacking Starlight for no discernable reason and continuing the long trend of hatred that only burdens everyone with more drama and further deepens the division.

We provide filters so that you don’t have to put up with the “frivolous” things you so obviously don’t wish to see. I recommend that you use them rather than continuing with this campaign. This isn’t to create a hugbox or whatever other accusation you and others may level, but to give you the opportunity to escape from content that you obviously find distressing enough to complain about on a regular and frequent basis.

Indeed it’s not. However, just saying “this is silly” isn’t useful criticism.
 
You said it’s silly for somepony to have such strong dislike for a character they vent it through art. Let me ask you then: Isn’t it equally silly to get upset over it because one identifies with the character so strongly? That’s equally irrational, and it doesn’t even produce any art.

At the end of the day, the artist/OP have the right to do whatever they want. But I and others also have the right to criticize their work as silly and frivolous. Whining is not the same thing as criticism.

Well, they are also free to whine on the image, though that’s actually heavily discouraged by the mods. As in, they want ponies to use filters if they don’t want to see something.

You know, I recently had a conversation with someone about this. We came to the conclusion that while filtering is an option, sometimes you still have to question the inherent value of the image to begin with.
