Honestly, I like to see Momlestia with Twi because it’s cute, and Celestia being her teacher makes it more likely. I think the most we get from the show is that Twi admirers Tia, and Tia cares for Twi (though there will be those who say that Tia doesn’t care for Twi for reasons), though I don’t get why the excuse Velvet. Can’t you just see Velvet and Celestia sharing stories about Twi over tea?

Hello Harmozel, I suppose the desire to draw their interactions regardless of context stems from a love for both the characters and the relationship they have formed . Momlestia would be considered more ‘canon’ while Twilestia would not, should artists refrain from drawing characters as both friends and as potential love interests? That seems obscene.
 
You say she sees her as a mother figure in canon, while at the same time saying she wants Celestia to have a high opinion of her to the point of mania, that’s a bit of a contradiction isn’t it? What if instead they are friends, one that Twilight perhaps values a little too much. I don’t know about you but I can relate to the manic frenzy of trying to get everything in perfect order to impress someone/people. Are you saying its not possible or healthy to have role models even into adulthood? Bollocks, near everyone I know has one, some from childhood, some more recent developments.
 
I’m not saying their relationship would be some fairy-tale, they would have a lot of conflict to work through, but their characterizations are great matches, and the conflict is part of what makes it more interesting then if they were to just love each other for no reason.

How about even keeping to this artist’s gallery? Have you seen the ammount of momlestia drawn by MagnaLuna?  
I don’t have a problem with people shipping TwiLestia (though I highly dislike the ship), I have a problem  
when people have momlestia and twilestia as their headcanon at the same time.
 
As for show canon, it’s not explicitly stated but through Twilight’s actions we see that she treats Celestia  
as more than a teacher and more like a second parent.  
Celestia being the prominent role model from when Twilight was a little filly to (presumably) adulthood,  
smells of something foul
 
Also, this relationship would not be too healthy for Twilight, as she constantly strives to prove herself  
to Celestia, even leading to her developing mental issues (Lesson Zero; Magical Kindergarden?)  
This is seen as late as season six, during the dinner where Twilight was supposed to intoduce Starlight.

Out of curiosity from where did this information come from? Celestia was Twilight’s teacher to be sure, and they’re close also, but Twilight already has a mother, from where did this concept take precedence?
