Something else I wanted to point out that I liked about this episode while it said that the manager was a huge jerk and was abusing his powers; they had Rarity point out his job is legitimately hard a lot of the time, and that after he was gone it also pointed out that regardless of how much of a jerk he was he was actually very good at his job and knew what he was doing. That by getting rid of him Coloratura’s job was going to be harder now. I thought that kind of made the episode more complex.
 
Three years later I have to disagree.  
He abused his power and treated other ponies like dirt. I think there are many ponies who can do a better job.

Also not too surprised by the results, since Rara pretty much has the most character out of all of them and we barely heard Songbird talk throughout the movie.
 
The amazing songs didn´t hurt either.

To be fair, we haven’t actually heard Sapphire Shores sing, so we don’t really know what her music sounds like.

In some ways Svengallop was like Sassy Saddles: Good at their line of work but too caught up in their own ideas to see that they weren’t tending to their employers’ actual wants.

Well it doesn’t mean that they are 100% canon though, it could still be fleshed out further in the show itself at some point. It just means that at least that part of the story is canon, or at least more so than the comics are anyway.

That kind of annoys me, since it relegates the story of Cadance’s ascension to a couple sentences in a book that is very clearly intended for very small children (and yes, the writing quality is far more childish than the show).

They mentioned that on Twitter too, I guess that confirms that the books are canon to the show then. It at the very least puts them far closer to true canon than the comics are at any rate.

I liked this episode more than the last one. The songs were great and I loved Coloratura she was a very good character. If anything I felt like this episode could have been longer perhaps to explore things more.

I find it interesting that this episode references the Berrow book “Pinkie Pie and the Rockin’ Ponypalooza Party” directly.
 
In the beginning of the episode, Twilight mentions that Pinkie got experience in organizing from that event.
