I don’t know if their telling the truth, or just saying what the higher ups want them to say.

Wasn’t the reason the gimmick happen was because WWE was trying to cash in on the Pirates if the Caribbean franchise. Then later, Vince didn’t know what Pirates of the Caribbean was and thought it was a reference to a old pirate movie?
 
#1: I’m not too sure myself, though if they did disagree with Vince, it wouldn’t be very smart of them to say as much where it would get back to him. Given that he basically is the only real American wrestling promotion these days.
 
#2: I’d heard that Vince knew nothing about the movies, and he said that ‘Why are those dumb marks cheering a pirate? Pirates are bad guys!’ and retooled Burchill into a heel.

Him too, but I was mainly referring to the way WWE exploited the hell out of poor Eddie Guerrero after he died. If you check out the “Wrestlecrap” site they have an article on it.

Eugene was actually a fairly good wrestler, though I agree they could’ve invested a little effort in coming up with a somewhat more tasteful gimmick for him.
 
At least he didn’t end up like poor Cap’n Jack Burchill, who went from the WWE’s answer to Jack Sparrow to Generic Snarling Badass Heel #5732. Except that, oh yeah, he was having sex with his sister. [sarcasm] What a brilliant change for the better! [/sarcasm]
