There’s no “Reigning” a possibly unlivable wasteland / “Hell” in the very literal sense, though. A proper comparison would be a future in which she won, or heck, any future with a relatively easily disposed of tyrant at the top. Wasn’t this the only future she saw herself? Twilight was able to make her point due to how the spell luckily just happened to arbitrarily escalate in desolation, had it showed one of the previous scenarios or, heaven forbid, one of the niche “How the hell did that get in power?” outcomes, the ending would’ve been quite different, to put it mildly.
 
If anything, the spell’s bias may be the most egregious use of a deus ex machina in the entire show.
 
“So, if I’m to continue my vengeance… two powerless and easily overthrown con artists are going to take over? Huh.”

Yeahhh!!! Hitting filly Rainbow Dash turned Equestria in Wasteland. Despite that, I know even If Twilight had kept Starlight in any future specially Sombra or Tirek one, the episode had lasted 10 minutes. Starlight only wanted ponies were mediocre and average because she couldn’t stand any pony was more successful with cutie mark than her, being killed by Chrysalis herd or even Nightmare Moon timeline wasnt an option to Starlight, despite NM future seems not bad really.

I’ll start by saying that Discord’s character development really has ended up great (arguably the best development of any male character on the show), but I think Discord did have some untapped potential as a villain. Could’ve probably become more dangerous, due to him being, by default, easily the most powerful character in the show, barring very few characters, and being quite intelligent.

At this point, what villain DOESN’T have untapped potential?

Starlight’s time travel shenanigans scheme wasn’t about reigning over anything, it was just bad old fashioned revenge.

Almost all the villains could have an entire season to themselves if MLP was that type of a show

I think Cozy Glow. In a world of psychotic unicorns who are inexplicably more powerful than gods, centaurs who can wield the power of an entire world, shapeshifting succubi, gods of chaos, and the goat equivalent to Typhon, she’s just a clever kid who exploits the weaknesses of others. She’s basically the series answer to this guy :D

Just feels like it beats you over the head screaming at you to feel sad. Not helped by the fact that the author decided to rewrite everything from the beginning specifically to make Apogee’s father, Jet, less sympathetic because they didn’t like that people like him more… and yet they completely failed at actually making Delta MORE sympathetic.

I thought Discord was more the series answer to the Joker. Now that I appreciate Cozy Glow more, I can’t wait on what she does next.

A lot of Cozy Glow appreciation after frenemies. And i love it!

He has too many powers to be the Joker. The Joker’s always been a scary villain because of his unpredictability, his surprising intelligence, and his frightening effectiveness despite no real powers (except his uncanny ability to survive things) :D

As a villain Discord straddled the line between Emperor Joker and Mr. Mxyzptlk I think, being less malicious than the former but more malicious than the latter :D
 
You know, what actually makes Cozy such a frightening villain I think is she’s just very good at exploiting the dumb moves of other people. She knew Twilight would be careless enough to leave the artifacts she needed lying around, she knew Mane Six would chomp at the bit to abandon the school for a trouble call, she knew everyone would be trusting enough to take things she said at face value, and she knew Neighsay would do her dirty work if she gave him an excuse :D

That goes to show that the writers really know how to make a unique villain when they need one.

I’ve been hoping for a pony villain that purely relied on charisma to be a threat as opposed to being yet another magical prodigy gone rampant since like, S3.
 
She ain’t the Christopher Nolan’s Bane-style “rebel veteran” archetype I imagined ever since, but eh, close enough.

Yep, down to the fact that John de Lancie plays him. He was Q if he was more actively villainous… now he’s arguably nicer than Q, perhaps.
 
Discord never could’ve been a Joker, because if the Joker had Discord’s powers, a lot of people would die, lol.

They’ve certainly run the gamut of villains, which I really appreciate. They’ve even managed to make Chrysalis pitiable WITHOUT making her sympathetic. Assuming they’re not just setting her up for another Starlight-brand “poor thing, let’s forgive everything” easy redemption ;D

I think she’s a very welcome addition to the show, the way she sort of just thrives on the blunders and reckless actions of others. Even unintentionally: if they’d thrown her in a normal prison with guards instead of hell, they’d know that she had escaped under very weird circumstances and know something was going on. Not to mention how she’s completely unabashedly the dark side of the power of friendship. Up until her believing in the power of friendship automatically meant you were a good guy, no questions asked; she shows up and is like “I’m evil, and I use the power of friendship purely for power and personal gain” :D

I’m glad Sombra got to speak and I like that he had an accent.
 
But I still think he should’ve been voiced by Wilfred Godfrey.

I don’t find Chryssy pitiable and more just a victim of bad luck. I’m less “Awww, poor her” and more “Damn, this bitch is going insane by the second and it’s funny” and judging by what happened in Frenemies, I don’t think they’re gonna do that to her, nor Tirek, nor to Cozy Glow.
