Back then I hadn’t an account and for the most part I was more interested in other things like the twilight burger or rarihic to put much attention. I remember I saw guys like PonyPon back then but for the most part I already forgot about most of them. I didnt make background pony comments either. If I saw Spike Social Justice warriors back then, i don’t remember.

What ISN’T abuse is Spike not being directly on-screen when Shining Armor and Cadance made their announcement about their baby in “The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows”. You can clearly hear his voice, he’s just out-of-frame. But try telling that to Swashbucklist, who, after the episode aired, told Jim Miller on Twitter, and I quote, “So GM Berrow wrote today’s episode? Could you tell her to go to hell for me? She abused Spike by not letting him be at Shining and Cadance’s big announcement.”

I think he was. You KNOW someone’s bad when the biggest concentration of assholes in this fandom with mods who don’t give two shits about enforcing their rules (except for Calpain; he’s cool) has enough of his bullshit.

I like to believe Spikeabuse exists because he’s the male character and a lot of people project themselves onto him more than anyone else in the series.
 
There really isn’t an explanation for why it could’ve gained so much traction.

I forgot the episode name, but that episode where the entire mane 6 mocked him for not being “dragon”(while at the same time saying being “dragon” is wrong ?) enough is definitely abuse, esp when you consider that they are effectively his family
 
also rarity x spike in Canon is pretty creepy and would not fly at all if the genders were reversed

If it was Dragon Quest, then I regret to inform you that the episode has been erased for my memory, and to all intents and purposes never existed. I like to pretend that Garble debuted in another, better episode.
 
Hopefully one that wasn’t racist as all fuck and bizarrely enough inspired an equally terrible comic that tried to refute that episode in a very SJW way, yet ALSO managed be racist as all fuck.

I’ve never seen Soarin used in that manner and at most Big Mac is used as the guy all the ladies want but not in same manner as Spike.
 
Also Dragon Quest being qualified as either racist or abuse is laughable.

That’s Dragon Quest. I would say it was more mental abuse, but that’s still a bit of a stretch.
 
I don’t know why people think Rarity X Spike is creepy, it’s just a precocious crush, pretty standard trope.

For me, personally, the real issue I have with it is that it has really overstayed its welcome.

People use the word “abuse” way too much.

I disagree. I always thought of it as a character trait for Spike to be infatuated with her, and I’m glad that he had the courage to sing an entire song to her in the special.
