So it only just occurred to me… Maybe the reason Starlight’s cloak in the epilogue looks so much like her father’s is because he’s dead by the time the episode takes place and she’s wearing it to honor his memory…

I never understood this notion that Starlight is a lot older than the rest of the Mane 6. I always assumed she was a couple of years younger than Twilight, so her dad is maybe in his late 40’s at most. He’d likely still be alive at the end of the finale.

Look, I didn’t completely buy the theory either. I made that post after how several people theorized the idea on Twitter when I mentioned her cloak in the future being similar to his.
…Unless of course he didn’t die of old age.

I see her as an older lass because it fits my mood. Why? Because Sunburst, who’s around her age, looks like he prolly 25 at the youngest. Not to mention that Starlight sports that weird hairstyle which makes her look older.
Also because shipping it with Sunburst when they’re that old makes sense. As in “how come you ain’t married yet?” and that joke works for a lot of Starburst shipper like me.
I put Starlight around Sunburst’s age, and Sunburst around Shining Armor AND Big Mac, which makes Starlight about older than Twilight.

Like I said, I think she might be a FEW years older, but not that much, and even then I didn’t totally buy this particular theory anyway.

I kinda like to think Starlight’s like five years older than Twilight as well. One reason being how it flies in the face of “age equals wisdom/maturity” a bit.
Nothing ludicrous like “Starlight is a decade or two older” though. Starlight is a young adult regardless.

You say that but I like to think of the Princesses as examples of that. For as old and wise as they can be, they aren’t as mature as you might think they are. Royal Problem being the first episode that comes to mind

Where would you get the idea that Celestia and Luna are overly adept at resolving sisterly stuff though? The fact that Nightmare Moon happened kinda attests to them probably needing to learn stuff on that front, lol. (Not saying that was really all Celestia’s fault, because Luna has responsibility for that)
