Season 7 Episode Discussion [Speculation, Discussion, Spoilers] (SPOILER YOUR LEAKS)

Well, that’s not really disagreeing with anyone, is it?
I’m the one who disagrees with the notion that it simply “changed her outlook” on life. No, that’s putting it WAAAAAAAAY too mildly. It made her into a character who is completely unrecognizable from who she once was. It rid her of every last bitter thought in her mind, of every preconceived notion that she was better than everyone else, of every desire for power she once had, of every last negative trait she once had, and replaced her with a character who is basically the epitome of purity and perfection.
How utterly convenient.

Nope. We also really disagree in Sunset.
Having only watched up to Rainbow Rocks, I’ll say that getting blasted with Harmony powers really did change her outlook on life.

Sorry I’m late. I missed a chance to argue about Sunset. Also I forgot your stance on that character.
When you put it that way, shes 100% a different character after being blasted at the end of the first movie. Keeping only her appearance and losing everything else about herself. So I 100% agree with what you said right there. :D
A lot of her fans seem to like her better that way.
@Miss Shy
I agree with this too. I wonder how Luna would have ended up if they never used the Elements of Harmony on her. I think the show and the ponies in it like to treat Nightmare Moon like she was seperate from Luna.
Nope. We also really disagree in Sunset.Yup. :PBut true to my word, I’m going to stop arguing about Starlight now.Having only watched up to Rainbow Rocks, I’ll say that getting blasted with Harmony powers really did change her outlook on life.Well, that’s not really disagreeing with anyone, is it?I’m the one who disagrees with the notion that it simply “changed her outlook” on life. Discord did not change when he was blasted with rainbows. Neither did Tirek. In Luna and Sunset’s case it brought out something that was already there, deeply hidden as it might have been.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if The Cart Before the Ponies is actually contractually a Mane 6 episode by Hasbro and DHX because of some arbitrary rules governing how episodes qualify for being about specific characters and the Mane 6 ruling takes absolute priority, meaning that if an episode just barely qualifies for one it’s a M6 episode even if 99% of the screen is taken up by the CMC and the M6 have only background cameos…

I’ve explained before how Luna is different. She was once a good person who fell into darkness, and the Elements helped her find who she was again, but not without a transition period which was shown in Luna Eclipsed.
We have virtually no reason whatsoever to believe that Sunset was ever a good person. That she never had a massive chip on her shoulder and was never insanely power-hungry. An even if I were to assume that she was once a good person, I can say easily that the person she is now is most certainly NOT who she originally was. And why is that? Because the person she is now is 100% incorruptible, and thus would not have been able to fall to the lure of power in the first place.
@Tragiclady
Don’t get me wrong. I’m definitely not saying that I liked the original Sunset. I just think it’s utterly ridiculous that not so much as a single aspect of the old Sunset exists in the new Sunset. That the writers thought that the best way to make her a likable character was not only to rid her of every last negative trait she once had, but also to treat her as though she’s the ultimate symbol of purity and is barely capable of doing wrong.
I recently posted a review of Legend of Everfree and mentioned how much I liked Twilight’s struggle with Midnight Sparkle, and that if they had done something similar with Sunset, I most certainly would have ended up liking her more. Twilight, who wasn’t even remotely evil in Friendship Games, has to deal with the evil she fears lies inside of her. Meanwhile, Sunset was as evil as sin itself, but she didn’t have to undergo any struggle or any fear that evil still rested inside of her. Because she knew there was no longer even the tiniest trace of evil inside her. The only thing she really had to struggle with was the fact that barely anyone was ready to believe that she had changed, and that’s it.
Twilight is the one who deserved to have it that easy.

If you put it like that, they did the same thing with Luna.

She isn’t even that competent as a villain. I think the most of a threat she does is when she dons the elements of harmony, which has implications of some kind of corruption.
Most of her plans up till then is basically “try to beat twilight at something”.

Let’s be honest here, Sunset was a pretty terrible villain.

Really, I don’t even see Starlight as enjoying her magic powers all “that” much. They’re normally portrayed as a means to an end for her. It’s obviously exaggerating to say she doesn’t take pride in her power at all, but still.
Take Every Little thing. She acts kinda the show off in that episode, but then she reveals at the end that she was intentionally showing off to manipulate Twilight and distract her from noticing or caring about how her friendship lessons were going.

Think they’re S7 episode titles?

Nope. Maybe Luna gets bombarded with letters from Celestia. By now i totally expect the writers to do such a trollish dick move. A tarnished Luna episode where Celestia is only mentioned. Hahaha Ha Ha. ~~. ~~
Besides that, this video is called Twilight and Starlight. Starlight and Twilight episodes only.

Celestia episode hype time?
