I can’t see the show staff cutting a good story just because it has complex sets or characters. DHX (thankfully) doesn’t work like that. They’re not lazy. There must be a good reason for not including Ahu in her latest adventures.

Because the last two Daring episodes involved a large pony crowd, from the convention to the desert townsfolk. Having a big giant blue cat thing would immediately catch everyone’s attention so not all that conspicuous

Just saw Daring Done actually. I found it to be ok. I might like it better on a rewatch, which I’ll do in a second.
 
I think what took the wind out of it for me is that once you realize it’s cabbaleron tricking everypony, then the core stakes of the episode kinda vanish. Since you know it’s just a trick. Her guilt becomes a lot less meaningful since you know it’s unwarranted. Then again, weren’t there a few lines where Cabbaleron implied that he was just taking an already existing problem ponies had with Daring and exacerbated it when she saw Daring with Dash? If so then that’s a lot better.
 
Pinkie was real good in this. As was AK. I really do like her. Sphinx didn’t wow me as much as it did other, but Cabbaleron trying to straight up murder people will never not make me smile.

Not to mention, Caballeron actually has a point about the collateral damage. But since of course he’s the villain, this completely valid point is ignored.

Did you see the end? Daring acknowledges it and makes an effort to pay back and fix all the damage she’s done.

I haven’t actually seen the whole episode yet, no. I did try to watch it the other day, but I got interrupted by some stuff I had to get done and just forgot to get back to it. And I think the Dailymotion upload I was using is gone now.

Ok, seeing it again. I liked it a lot more. So… was there never a bridge? Was the jets of steam meant to be how Somnambula got across the chasm in the first place and the story changed over time?
 
That’s the only explanation I can see to that madness.

Nah. Pinkie just willed the steam jets into existence, basically. It’s easily the dumbest part of the episode.

Not that I minded. As I said, the stunning levels of dumb in Daring Do episodes is a good part of why I enjoy them.

Like a bubble conveniently appearing in the swamp and propelling Twilight upwards and safely away from the hydra all the way back in season 1.

I maintain that Pinkie is the most useful member of the Mane 6, as without her ability to manipulate reality they would have all gotten themselves killed by the end of the first season.

This is basically how the scene with Rainbow Dash being kidnapped in Daring Done went.
 
“I must capture you and use you as bait to lure Daring Do.”  
“But wait! Didn’t we establish before that I know all these karate moves and I’m perfectly capable to taking care of myself?”  
“It’s the climax. We needed something fast, and we didn’t really have time to develop anything outside of Somnamba’s story.”  
“I can’t even try flying away?”  
“No.”  
“My karate moves?”  
“No.”  
“Can somepony at least knock me out from behind or something?”  
“No, I’m just going to tie you wings with this rope.”  
“Oh, no! How did you know tying my wings with rope was my only weakness?”  
“Oh, good, good! Didn’t even think of that.”

Rainbow Dash is always strangely useless in Daring Do episodes.

I actually almost wondered if the ending WAS a reference to feeling Pinkie Keen. Because it was once again someone believing Pinkie about leaping into a pit of liquid on blind faith and some kind of gaseous phenomena saving them.

Twilight had a weird habit of forgetting she could teleport in season 1.

This show was NOT built for conflict since Twi also forgets she can freeze armies in place.

To be fair, I don’t think they had really decided on teleportation being one of Twilight’s abilities during season 1. She only did it a couple times in Applebuck Season and then didn’t do it again until Lesson Zero, which was the episode where she started doing it regularly.

Yeah the first couple of times, she was really unsure of herself teleporting. I mean Spike got charred in The Ticket Master.

All ponies tend to have their moments of useless whenever the plot calls for it.

I doubt Jim will respond, and the only person Brynna’s spoken to in the last six months is Chris-Chan, so I’ll just assume Babs is now an IDW character who just happens to be in the background of the CMC clubhouse.
