That’s why there was a debate on it to determine how to classify it. If the decision was unanimous then they would have just changed it.
A debate is two sides making points TO the audience to determine what they believe is the better choice, and presenting their points to them. By that I mean the definition would be if I were in a debate I would present my point to the audience so they make a conclusion why my opponent presents their point as well and the audience(or in this case the board) makes their conclusion.
A argument is the competing sides directly presenting their points to each other to debate which is the correct manner.
Debates are superior forms of communication to arguments in that debates require one appeal to the collective rather than one upping each other. Debates are superior forms of communication in that as well as having to appeal to a collective it requires putting the collective’s interests first hand and realizing you won’t sway everyone’s opinions and thus if you argue you fail at debating effectively.
By going “it wasn’t unanimous” that is failing at the basics of what a debate is, and is instead by focusing on having a unanimous decision is trying to one up your opponent.
Tl:dr; The reason why people that are good at arguing are shitty at debating is that they have the mentality of trying to get a unanimous decision. You can either be good at arguing or good at debating, you can’t do both at the same time.

“A psychological state is considered a mental disorder only if it causes significant distress
or disability. Many transgender people do not experience their gender as distressing or disabling, which implies that identifying as transgender does not constitute a mental disorder. For these individuals, the significant problem is finding affordable resources, such as counseling, hormone therapy, medical procedures, and the social support necessary to freely express their gender identity and minimize discrimination. Many other obstacles may lead to distress, including a lack of acceptance within society, direct or indirect experiences with discrimination, or assault. These experiences may lead many transgender people to suffer with anxiety, depression, or related disorders at higher rates than nontransgender persons.”

I’m no expert on psychology, but it is far from unanimous on what to call it as. Some see it as a form of mental illness, just like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder are. Others are unsure what to classify it as, and are more open-ended. Others see it as a “normal” thing.” while others see it as just a bad behavior that is not qualified to be called a mental illness. I am more of the 1st and 2nd.
Talk about having an identity crisis. If you were lesbian I’d understand, but having a gender different than your biological sex?? that isn’t ordinary for mammals. If you have a vagina, YOU ARE A WOMAN/GIRL!!
@Princess♠Molestia
Bad because it’s implying they’re “actually a man/woman”, unless you mean you were using dude/dudette to refer to their current presentation.
I know right! Being transgender would probably be so easier in a world with magic. Don’t like your gender? Polymorph spell. Still not happy and think you made a huge mistake? Well you can go right back no harm done.
The problem is paying the prices for those damn Canterlot Magisurgeons. 20,000 bits just for a slightly longer horn? Are you kidding me?!

It’s still not a disorder like you claim it to be.
Like I said, it is not unanimous.
I stand corrected on that then.
It’s technically a dysphoria. It’s no longer classified as a disorder.

Sounds like it’s not a disorder unless ignorant idiots drive them to the brink by acting like assholes and make it a disorder for them.

I take it you’ve never taken a psychology class before?

Whoa, what happened here?
OUTRAGEOUS!

I don’t suppose “Record Scrape” has met Glitter Shell, has he?
(Glitter Shell is another “transgender” pony tumblr, this time with Snails as the main character)
