DUSTY IS BEST CAPTAIN
Rainbow Dash has her friends to help her out and imrprove. it’s safe to assume that LD doesn’t.
It would have been nice if RD wasn’t the only one that learned a moral lesson. It’s not only the main characters that can learn lessons, but other side characters. RD could have tried to offer her hoof to LD and the episode could have ended cutly with them zooming up into the sky then credits roll in. :3

That would have been so much better.

@lackey_h
Wow. Once again I am shocked at how stupid the LD haters are. Seriously. The entire run of events could have been stopped cold if Spitfire did her job properly instead of actively encouraging LD to do reckless shit by rewarding her for doing it. All she had to do was slap LD down for her attitude and impress upon her that it was a bad attitude to have back around the Dizzitron thing or when her leadership got dash visibly injured. You know, like real trainers should do when training people with potentially dangerous attitudes.
It’s not like Spitfire is the one who is responsible for ensuring her cadets are properly trained in how to conduct themselves and behave in a safe and responsible manner after a-… oh, wait, no. As the person in charge she is responsible for ensuring that.
Further people seem to act like LD deliberately set off that Tornado while there were civvies in the area… uh… when there weren’t. Twi and co showed up after it was out of control. When LD began the tornado it was, though unnecessary, theoretically ‘safe’ to do so. No-one was in the way, etc, it going out of control was something she couldn’t predict when she started it after all - reckless though she is I doubt she’s stupid enough to do something she knows she can’t do to impress the wonderbolts.
And lastly… as to her being unconcerned about everyones safety… I can only tell you to go back to Sonic Rainboom and watch how even Fluttershy clearly cares more about the fact that RD did a rainboom than she is concerned about Rarity’s health after her near death. Ponies not giving a shit about ponies provided everyone lives is not something limited to LD.

Exactly. Spitfire completely failed and Lightning paid the price.

@Princess♠Molestia
Oh also you seemed perfectly okay with NEAR MURDER. Good job, you deserved the punishment.

An accident is not near murder. Nice try.

@Hogtree Octovish
As everyone else has said, one mistake yes, but a mistake that you caused which risked not only the lives of your fellow Wonderbolts-to-be but also those of five innocent civilians.

Civilians who entered a restricted area. How was Lightning supposed to know?

@Sydxelia
Seriously? What the flying feather?
Lightning Dust made her bed. Now she can sleep in it.

Everything she did Rainbow Dash did too. Rainbow became a wing pony, Lightning did not get a second chance. That is called double standards. Inconvenient truth.

“draco in leather pants”. It’s where fans try to make a villainous (or at least antagonistic) character good, sometimes by outright warping his or her canon personality (e.g. suddenly having Megatron worry himself sick over his troops instead of being, you know, Megatron). Generally because they like said character.

Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter is the best example. TV Tropes has the explanation, and the reverse where a ‘good’ character is evil.

Kerion

Not feeling sorry for her in the least. Being part of the The Wonderbolts is about working as a team. Lighting Dust was only thinking about herself, showed no concern when Dash clipped her wing, no consideration for their fellow fliers, no remorse for starting a tornado that was tearing the place apart. I bet if given the chance things would of went bad with that tornado, she would of blamed Dash for it. It’s all about herself to Lighting Dust, everyone else doesn’t matter.

I still feel sorry for her.
She cried in the episode at the very end.
CRIED!
What kind of kid’s show has that?!

You nearly killed the mane 5 and gave no fucks about your teammates! Stop the woobiefcation right now!
Background Pony #BBAB

Lightning Dust is basically Rainbow Dash without the influence of her friends
though seriously, she’d a talented flier, Spitfire would probably just demote her to wingpony until she learned better

Oh jesus

I know that that episode never happened but by that logic Dash already endangered the lives of several ponies in Mare Do Well

If ponies actually died from doing dangerous stuff half the cast could be accused of near murder by now

Stop vilifying Dust for acting like Dash always acts and gtfo

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Because of one mistake?

That one “mistake,” for which she showed no remorse or concern, could have easily ended the lives of several ponies.

Even as bad as Trixie was, nobody was ever in life-threatening danger due to her actions.
