Rarity has the highest insecurities and thus seems to be the prime target for the Nightmare creatures.
That’s why I developed the compulsive habit of copying my comments and refreshing the page to see if anyone has posted something before I did if I take too long.
This is what I get for not reading the comments more carefully. And being a slow typist.
I dunno. I’d say Rarity’s nightmare was the worst. Sure, Twi getting rejected by Celestia hurts, but at least she’d still have friends. Rarity got rejected, brutally, by everypony.
Aren’t*
I literally just mentioned that like 5 min ago. Dependency issues can crop up even when the parents are “bad”. While it’s mostly triggered by deep seated psychological problems, it can occur in healthy minds. It’s often the case in those situations that the “mentor” offers something the parent didn’t.
Twi’s got some serious issues, is what I’m saying.
Rainbow and Flutter’s too, the only one who got off easy was Pinkie.
Death is one thing, but being actually shunned by the person is even worse. That not only hits the heart strings, but the pride of the person.
I guess I could get that. But then it’s strange that her worst fear isn’t Celestia dying/being imprisoned/ascending to a higher plane or something. Maybe she knows that she has eternal youth or something.
I could get into the deep psychological issues that can lead to seeking acceptance outside of your own family…but I really don’t feel like it so just pretend I actually said something meaningful. Trust me, people, I mean real people, do this a lot. The parents don’t even have to be bad, sometimes folks just latch on to others in a really deep way.
Yeah, but don’t you think her fear should involve losing her friends somehow?
That brings up another question: Why does Twilight obviously look for/treat Celestia as a mother figure in her life when she still has and always has had an actual mother?
You answered your own question. Just as spike fears lossing one of the most important ponies in his life, Twilight fears losing her mentor. She’s more then a teacher, she’s pretty much a mother figure. Think Obi-wan to Qui, or Harry to Dumbledore.
This was implied to just be one of her nightmares.
You know, like how Spike’s worst fear is him being sent away? Since Twilight is probably the most important figure in his life?
Whatever, I guess.
