It looks random, but it’s not really unfitting if you know who the characters are. Each of them are highly intelligent in their own series (Sans having knowledge of Quantum Physics, surprisingly) and they’re having a discussion but Sans can’t help but throw in skeleton joke.

One thing that’s funny about that is the Chief is so… Stoic. I mean, hardcore more or less kill the entire covenant (I mean, he’s the player, and the games take you through everything, so of course he can. He died a million times failing, and you loaded last checkpoint. But one time, just one time he succeeded, and that one is canon) armada, but you know… He’s not like, violent, or even mean or anything. Apparently he doesn’t even like cameras. The poor guy has basically been a forced child soldier his entire life, so he’s hardly learned any social skill outside of following orders and killing attacking aliens. I love how in Halo 4, Cortana even brings this up.
 
Simply put, as a soldier, he’s freaking hardcore.

I mean, given his complete lack of normal socialization, and the fact that he’s hardly ever spoken, and what his few lines were, I think they’re pretty much twins :p
 
Except instead of rocks, his obsession is… Rockin’ the Covenant XP
 
I really need to play through Halo 5 already, it’ll be interesting to see what they do with his character… No spoilers plz :p
 

 
 
Okay, totally unwarranted response for a passing comment, but I just think it’s kinda an interesting topic. I’ve always thought it was a really awkward/weird crossover, and I’m only starting to understand why. I think understanding the situation could actually make it pretty funny…
