Marijuana is not a drug, even when it was illegal. I used to suck hooves for coke, now THAT’S an addiction, man. Have you ever sucked hooves for marijuana? I didn’t think so!

Now that people are actually posting links to IRL studies, this seems to be turning into a discussion of the IRL implications of the theme of the image, rather than of the image itself. If you want to discuss the image, this is the place for it, but if you want to discuss DARE or drug programs or other IRL stuff like that, please use the forums or a website that’s more appropriate for those IRL discussions.

My country have a anti-drugs program too (PROERD) that is based in this DARE. I don’t remember them lying, nor do I see any reason to lie as the truth is sufficiently scary. Can you dissert on this lying part? (I’m not doubting you, I’m just curious.)

That’s not true for people on crack cocaine and heroin, their lives will improve if they stop right now. Being on abstinence is awful but still beats street drugs.

The E in DARE was for Education, at least back in the late 80s. The classes were informative about the dangers of using drugs and alcohol when taught properly. Saying that a class is useless because people ignore its lessons is like saying that Algebra is useless for the same reason. If someone has been educated about the risks of their actions and then makes the decision to go ahead with those actions anyway (method of escape and whatnot), it is not the teacher who failed them.

I agree, but simply taking away all drugs won’t stop those who are already addicted, instead, it might make their lives worse as they won’t have a method of escape from how bad their lives seem. Perhaps both of our solutions are correct, it’s just that campaigns like these remind me a bit too much of propaganda.

@infinita est lux Solis
People don’t NEED drugs. They are FOOLED into believing they do, until they do—they become enslaved to it. And those that make/sell drugs are more than happy to supply and keep them enslaved. This is not cool, at all.

Attempting to stop drug-use via these campaigns are, if anything, counterproductive. Most people are smart enough to know that drugs are bad, but people still use them as a form of escapism from shitty lives, so it’s better to improve the economic and social conditions among the lower-class than attempt to villanize drug-use.
