There was this one fanfic called “About Last Night” where Twilight and Applejack were going on an adventure to figure out who set up their cider-induced marriage to each other (it makes sense in context), and Twilight told Spike that he should stay and spend time with the Cutie Mark Crusaders, because she felt that he was too focused on being her assistant and needed to learn to have fun with ponies his own age. One commenter said in response to this, and I quote, “That’s it, I’m done. You made Spike a freaking kid.” (I censored his original quote; ‘freaking’ was originally something else, and you can probably guess what that was)
 
So yeah, I have reasons to assume that people will b**** about that kind of thing.
