the thing is inspired by lovecraftian horror, but the movie takes a more scientific approach to it, with no impossible physics or mind warping geometries. so technically it could be an even match, but only if mama abhoth comes to protect her.

The rules of sentient biomasses. You can’t end the thing, that regenerates itself from few small particles. Until this “cat” is a fire breathing kind of reality bending stuff. Then, it surely can kill the Thing, but i don’t see any reason, why she wouldn’t just leave an “emergency pile” somewhere, we can’t see.
