I think it’s sort of been building very, very slowly. Silver Spoon has never been the one to speak first, always taking Diamond Tiara’s lead, but each successive season seems to have emphasized that a little more. While the default assumption for some might have been that it’s the writers flanderizing her into a completely subservient role, I always kind of felt it was just the opposite, that Silver Spoon was developing in a different direction from Tiara but didn’t want to oppose her, so she stopped taking any initiative in order to make sure she was doing what she had to do to keep her as a friend.
 
The fight between them didn’t start in this episode. It’s been going on since season 3 at the latest. They just didn’t realize it until now. They had to understand that before they could have their reconciliation.
