Ken says many things… Ironically, that contradicts what he said on his site that he wanted to charge them to use “his” characters years ago. Judging by other things he said recently on Twitter (they have entire Tumblrs and blogs chronicling the Ken Penders drama) it doesn’t really look like he wants Sega or Archie to freely use his characters/concepts regardless what he claims.

Also, Sega wouldn’t be so paranoid in the first place to use his characters, if he didn’t try to copyright them behind their back, and stir up all that legal drama in the first place. (Or had all these demands, and mandates on how they can use his characters) So it’s not all Sega or Archie’s fault.

Pretty sure that’s the case. Some folks latched on to the idea that Flash Sentry resembled Shining Armor to a degree they thought was creepy—or that he actually was the human version of Shining Armor.

There was one good thing about 2006 for the Sonic series. (Despite the bad game, and bad Sonic 1 GBA remake ruining Sonic’s 15th anniversary.)

Ian Flynn became head-writer for the official Sonic comics, replacing Ken “Do not steal” Penders.
