She’s actually retired. Once she escaped, she realized “you know, this revenge thing is stupid. I’m gonna do something better with my life. Like own a pet. Pets are nice.” and has adopted a fluffy pony.
If then…where is the REAL Chrysalis?
Wait, didn’t she say just a few pages later she was lying? She broke through Twilight’s strongest spell AND appeared 2 inches in front of her with a killing blow ready in a heartbeat when Chrysalis accidentally tried in anger. If killing Twilight was her main goal, she would of done it immediately at the start.
Actaully, Twilight was the perfect patsy in that arc. Chrysalis intentionally acted unlike Cadence to various degrees in front of her friends so that they would have reasonable doubt that Twilight was wrong but enough to drive Twilight crazy. A certain degree for Pinkie, a certain degree for AJ, and she didn’t even meet RD who has no humility to royalty she doesn’t know.
Since Celestia was busy planning the wedding and Shining was under the spell, the only person that really knew enough about Cadence to speak up about her was Twilight. And in the ball room, she manipulated Twilight into discrediting herself in front of everybody perfectly. Shouting ‘she’s evil!’, pulling down AJ’s hat like a jerk, the whole caboodle. She even created a double layer trap for Shining to give a perfect explanation as if he wasn’t brainwashed. It was all planned.
Once she successfully ostracized her friends, Chrysalis got her alone and banished her to the dungeon.
The only part where Twilight wasn’t played like a fiddle was due to Chrysalis’ sadism. She wanted to see if she could drive Twilight into killing the real Cadence whom she was disguised as.
And even with them escaped, the changeling invasion was already in place. And since Cadence was almost completely drained, their banishment was a still only a 1 out of a million chance. Twilight played her part, but she didn’t see through anything Chrysalis didn’t want her to see.
Sad fact is, that’s all Celestia intends on thrusting on Twi to be despite it never coming across as sincere. She’s been thinking less like a wizard and nerd, and more like a warrior way over her head, and its become more of a liability then not. But since Celestia only says or provides positive reinforcement for these roles even when its not applicable, its making her more and more pigheaded.
I’d be fine with her being a warrior as well if it came across as sincere and it actually worked. And it kind of did in the first arc with the star themed power up. But thuggishly taunting Chysalis while Chrssi was holding back, saying that she was stronger then Chyrsalis since she was a child…and then Chyssi in anger instantly overpowering her, appearing two inches in front of her about to kill her cause Twilight was overconfident to the max? She’s becoming like the Rocky from the Power Rangers. Luck was the only reason she didn’t get brutally murdered.
Almost every time she’s asked or decides to ‘play’ the solo warrior, she ends up putting herself over her head, putting herself, and the friends looking out for her, in huge risk.
Yup. That’s our Twily. :)
@martianmister
Twilight was the one who could see through Chrysalis’s plans which eventually led to her freeing Cadance and Shining Armor.
How low they have made her fall.
Remember FIENDship? Chrysalis is obsessed with Twilight now. That’s all she cares about, she even says right here that’s the reason she agreed to be a diversion.
@Background Pony #3DFE
Badass bookworm; it’s a trope.
This. A warrior figure could be a total dork at same time, mlp is not the first to have a hero like that.
Why can’t Twilight be both an adorkable bookworm and a kick-ass warrior princess? It adds variety to her character if you ask me.
Well, Chrysalis did apply for citizenship the other day.
Eh, I’ll take adorkable bookworm Twi over Warrior Princess Twi any day. I don’t even like her fight in Twilight’s Kingdom that much (but at least then, she was beefed up with power).
Ah, ok. Gotcha.
Actually I’m not even sure of that now, it’s possible they didn’t realize what Hope was really trying to do and won’t want to side with Sombra when he is revealed.
Well, we don’t yet know if they team up, but they are playing on the same side at this point.
Is this the comic where she and Sombra team up?
She didn’t “thrust herself”, Chrysalis is the one who started attacking her first.
What’s Twilight supposed to do, NOT use her magic to defend herself?
For awhile, actually.
Or at least, that’s how alot of people like her.
