The 8’ candy cane, Angel, and the Equestria Girls poster all give size comparisons that make the ponies about 3½’. The apple comparison suggests they’re a little over 2’. I don’t know where the 5’ figure comes from.

Various attempts to measure them have pretty consistantly found them to be somewhere between 3 1/2 to 5 feet tall.

I personally go by the line-up chart from Pinkie Pride.

Hhm I don’t think so, AFAIK they made comparisons showing that ponies are as tall as humans when on four legs, and Celestia’s almost two meters high with her horn, definitively higher than all of us.
