Well, not old enough to have watched “Laugh-In” during its original run; I was introduced to it during its reruns on Nick at Nite during the late ’80s or early ‘90s. And that was just such a fabulous flurry of fricatives in that phrase that it’s stuck with me all these years. (I also adore alliteration, as you may ascertain.)

Feels more like “frequently fails” to me; doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the show any, but I no longer give a flying fickle finger of fate about the fandom. (There’s still some people and artists I enjoy, which is why I’m here, before anyone asks.)

Even among the handful of G3.5 fans I’ve noticed, disdain for the Newborn Cuties is almost universal. Sorta makes me wonder just how bad it could really be.

Personally (and yes, I know I’m in the minority, and that’s fine), I actually like the G1/G2 designs better for toys and, to a lesser extent, still art; they’re more pony-like while still being reasonably stylized and cartoony. The uber-stylized G4 design, though, is much, much better suited for animation, especially animation on a TV budget.

Thanks for letting me know; I think the problem is I’ve run into unfortunately bad G4 fans…especially ones on FimFiction (look at RealityCheck’s blog on some stupid Celestia list and you’ll see how well he uses the “love and tolerance” thingy).
 
From what I’ve heard though, the majority of bronies actually have no problem with G1 though, and G1 is growing in popularity. Though I didn’t say this to that guy, the reason I hate G1 haters is they have this stupid assumption every generation before G4 is stupid. Please, G4 is NOT the end all, be all of MLP.

I agree, G4 really is as great and as massively popular as the fans indicate. And I grew up with - and adored, still adore - classic G1 and Tales. :) I also love FiM, EqG, G3, and even G3.5, basically everything.
 
I draw the line at the effin’ G3.5 Newborn Cuties though. :P They deserve to be killed with fire. Lots and lots of fire. :P

G4 really is as great as fans say. :p It’s just that sometimes the fandom fails that ‘love and tolerance’ thing and it’s hard to want to wear the brony label.
 
As for the past gens, I can’t say I grew up with them, but I have a special place in my heart for a lot of the characters. Most of what I upload is past-gen in fact (it’s deliberate and not: I like to spread the love of the lesser known casts, and the lesser known artists; I hope to please some of the folks who never get see their favorite characters drawn or written about; and of course there’s the fact that if you see 10 past-gen-related works and 10 FIM works that you want to share, a lot more of the FIM ones are already going to be here than the past-gen ones.)

I’m done talking to them, I just posted my final statements (sorry about me saying “stupid FiM”, but I’ll explain why). It’s just that G1 haters piss me off. I like G1 as much as G4, and fans like that are reasons I don’t wanna be called a brony. Plus it seems all I’ve done is run into bad G4 fans, and sometimes when I see them review it makes me wonder if G4 is really as great as fans say it is. Kinda understand what I mean? :(
