Aside from the smirk she was wearing- oh you mean her pony toy. Touche. We didn’t actually know she as gonna be in the series, either. Compared to Sunset’s and the Dazzling’s box art, the Shadowbolts don’t look as evil. It might be just the improved style, though.
If this characterization holds, I expect a “that’s my Equestria Girl” macro with Pearl at some point.

On the other hand, when Sunset Shimmer’s first toy came out, there was no indication that she was bad either. So this could go either way.
I accept this. Since the Mane 6 didn’t defeat Starlight in the premiere, maybe the same will happen here!

I’m hoping Twilight and/or the Shadowbolts get infected with dark magic instead of being evil.

Yeah, I have my doubts the other Shadow Bolts girls are all that evil. Even when Sunset and the Dazzlings first appeared in doll form, Hasbro didn’t bother hiding the fact that they were the villains.
I actually feel as if they’re not villains, but just competition. (Possibly a bit stuck up though, mind.) Indigo Zap and the rest don’t necessarily look/seem evil to me.
