Background Pony #B764
@WM-R
Er, most of the people who’ve acted as the Doctor have some comedy background, while David Tennant has a fair bit of drama under his belt, including acting the title part of Hamlet.

Could it also be because David Tennant is primarily a comedic actor and most of the previous Doctors had drama and stuff under their belts?

And the funny thing is Kamen Rider went through something similar. A lot of the older shows had main characters who were old or mature enough to look like they’ve seen some shit. And like Doctor Who, the Riders kinda fell off the cultural map for a good while.

But when they went for the big revival under Kamen Rider Kuuga, they started hiring actors who were young and good-looking. It worked, too.

I think it is mainly that their trying to appeal to a younger audience has led them to cast actors that seem to not have look of experience the older doctors had. Before the recent batch, the doctors looked like they had been around long enough to know what they were doing.

Lord, but David Tennant has a punchable face.

It’s probably just the cranky old bastard who was raised on the original series in me, but I never warmed to him.
