No, Bleach was still better off than Naruto in terms of gender equality. At least we saw Rukia and Sui Feng defeat their respective (male) opponents, even if they needed a little help from their guy friends, and the Sternettes proved themselves to be quite effective, even if they were ultimately defeated by men in the end.  
Over the course of Naruto’s run, there was only a single instance of a female character defeating a male one without any help - and that’s Kaguya killing an already dying Obito with her über powers. Speaking of Kaguya, while she proved to be as powerful as she was claimed to be, she didn’t appear to be as competent as plenty of the guys she (or rather, her creation Black Zetsu) manipulated throughout the series… not to mention how rushed was her introduction as the true big bad of the manga.

@chris the lovable jerk Well, to be fair to DBZ (and also on a related note, to Gundam) the show was finished…then they chained the poor guy to the desk and ordered new seasons, and even a new series. Talk about cursed by your talents. There’s a couple good long-runners like Legend of the Galactic Heroes or Armored Trooper Votoms though, but since they actually have developed stories it’s not non-stop fighting every episode, so they wind up not as popular with the kids.  
(and sometimes you get actual burnout, like Ranma 1/2 has the proper setup to be interesting for a long time, but after the fifth season it’s clear the jokes are being phoned in and they’ve become punchclock workers. It could have run forever, but they never got a well-deserved break. Get that same feeling from the Simpsons most days.)
 
Anyway if you dunno about Titty Kubo, one of the most striking and telling things he’s said in an interview, is that he only keeps track of shit on a tiny business ledger with scrawled out ideas, like how waiters in hollywood have napkins with movie ideas, except this is just for one series. He has this weird idea that re-reading his old material might negatively influence him, ‘especially since I might no longer be that person.’ This is what resulted in a lot of the main hueco mundo and pendulum arc asspulls. He legitimately forgot things that he hadn’t written down.
 
I guess it could have been alright if he’d been like Oda or Toriyama and apologised and squeezed them back in. But no, if Lord Kubo forgets you, you a dead man. So you better be doing something useful in the series! He just writes them off as ‘died offscreen, nobody cared lolol’  
What in the hell kind of writing style is that even? FF.net has shipfics that treats characters better.

i’ve never read nor watched Bleach but I know two things about it: Johnny Young Bosch is in it and it gets a LOT of complaints for various reasons (Sexism, wasted characters, plots that go on too long), it sounds like you nailed why the long runners why DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, etc aren’t as good as the shorter ones like Cowboy Bebop, FMA. Hell Death Note only lated for 37 episodes and even that felt like it suffered from the same problems that most manga suffer.

@chris the lovable jerk Is the anko thing a joke about the name? I seem to recall some kind of food that sounded like “anko.” And that is pretty bad, bad fanfic even. But I still think Bleach takes the cake. It feels like Kubo completely disrespects not only his work, but its fans. He says he loves them, and yet the constant ass-pulls, and especially that final arc… Talk about a series that probably lasted just because of morbid curiosity. I know I pretty much stayed just to see how it got screwed up next. Plus, well, he also developed a habit of just declaring dead people he forgot about and then someone bugged him to remember/bring back. Then there’s that whole thing in most recent arc that A: the main villain whupping the strongest characters in the series all grouped together at once effortlessly B: then getting done in by a lucky hit only to find it was a super-weak member of his squad who could Shang Tsung someone’s looks and personality C: then finding out the reason the main hero can’t hurt him is because he was the spirit of the main hero’s sword all along
 
I just can’t….No, sorry, I just can’t. He hath stolen all my evens.
 
also he won out on the sexism front too. Not only do no major females appear in the whole arc other than Team Mom and buttmonkey Rukia, but the female arrancar he spared waaaaaay back in the first ‘war’ arc…yeah, well, this happened and it’s implied they lost as quickly as they seemed to. The sole remaining females were just there to get beaten and enslaved to prove how unrepentantly bastardly the new bad guys were compared to the last few groups of puppy-kickers.  
It’s like he used the fan polls to figure out which characters to fuck up the worst.  
and then just for fun he rolled up just how many tumblr-triggery -isms he could cram into a single picture to bequeath the #1 spot of the side characters.
 
brings to mind another trollaciously dickish thing. By making the new bad team so overpowered that only the strongest can stalemate them, it gives him an excuse to start a fight, switch to some other person’s fight, then come back and that fight is already done, with a loss for the good guys. He cut down on his already comically light workload by finishing a bunch of fights off-screen, or even not shown at all, the survivor just meeting someone else and going “Oh? Them? Yea,killed them already.”

Naruto got Baaaaad after the Pein Arc, it was clear Kishimoto didn’t understand where he wanted to go and he was trying too hard to make the villains sympathetic (which only succeeded in making us hate them more because he doesn’t understand just because they have sympathetic backstories doesn’t make them sympathetic), his creepy love for the Uchia, and dumbing Naruto’s character down so far it makes Jar-Jar Binks seemed refined (in the first series Naruto clearly knew what sex was, but in Shippuden he claimed he didn’t now where babies come from), and just plain uber-sexist behaviors towards the females characters (killing anything positive about Sakura, leaving it up to the anime crew to address Hinata’s confession of love for Naruto, and turning Anko fat at the last second just for the sake of a joke.)
 
The only people in Japanese Animation to trust are Ghibli, the guy who made Wolf Children, and the Cowboy Bebop guys, and a few dozen others, but sadly the good anime tends to get lost and overlooked among the crap.

@chris the lovable jerk Haha, really? Never kept up with that series much, Orochimaru was the only cool non-movie baddie. And Zabuza who last I heard turned into a zombie. lol if so.  
My favourite “issues” anime currently is Alien Nine. Starts off looking so cutesy. Then it becomes worse than Madoka. To children half their age. (also unnecessarily close crotch shots errywhere)

Give Eva, Gundam, and how Naruto’s been going (what with the whole saying that a genocidal madman is ‘the coolest’ after instantly forgiving him), it’s safe to say that a lot of writers in Japan have issues.
