Keep the temperature above the lever that caused him to go into hibernation… an done. He would not hibernate. It’s as simple as that. Nothing else is required. Hell you’d think even Fluttershy would have told here that as well. ut again as I said before they needed a reason to show her emotional attachment to her pet. And this was how they did it. Not the best way in my opinion, but again that’s my opinion.
Look, you have to get them to adjust to it, we don’t know what Tank did before, and given he came from Shy I would guess he lived more like a wild tortoises, meaning he had been hibernating in the past, you can’t just have a tortoises just stop doing it, and seeing how Dash didn’t know until he was already ready for it, it would take too long so he might as well hibernate this year, next time she can set things up to get him to adjust to it.
You can’t just stop a tortoise from hibernating like nothing needs to be done.
I believe the second statement is about wild tortoises.
I meant it is not necessary because the living arrangement he is in doesn’t require it.
>Real life domesticated tortoises don’t hibernate.
>Tortoises will only hibernate if the temperature falls enough to send them into hibernation.
You do see you just contradicted yourself there?
>don’t hibernate.
Okay then, they don’t.
>send them into hibernation.
But you just said they don’t, if they don’t then how can something send them into it?
Real life domesticated tortoises don’t hibernate.
Tortoises will only hibernate if the temperature falls enough to send them into hibernation. This can be extremely dangerous since they need time to digest any recent food intake for at least a few days in order to give them a chance to get rid of anything left inside of them or else it’ll rot inside their stomachs and kill them during hibernation. In fact you only need to hibernate a Tortoise if you’re going to breed them otherwise it is not necessary.
The only reason for this episode was to show Dash’s attachment to her pet. Which in my opinion could have been done in a much better way. Though I feel we are just taking this too seriously. It’s a show meant for kids. So whatever makes them happy watching My Little Pony: Musicals are Magic is what works.
Why do real life domesticated tortoises need to do it?
It’s part of their nature!
I already told you that.
Animals hibernate for so long because its how they weather the winter season. Why does Tank need to do this when he lives in a home that provides 100 better a living environment?
@GoldenSun
They don’t indeed talk, but their emotional response is clearly of higher intelligence. A deaf person doesn’t talk or for the most part hear as well, but they clearly show their intelligence through their body language. Tank show’s his in much the same way.
One’s basic body functions don’t take back seat to higher thinking.
If that was the case then we could will ourselves to not sleep without representation simply because we are capable of rational thinking and intelligence, but we need to sleep as it’s a need of our bodies.
Same thing with Tank.
The ponies’ pets are smarter than their real world conterparts, that’s for sure, but I never saw them carrying a conversation with the real sapient species (like their owners), performing complex tasks nor living in their very own societies.
Tank is a sapient tortoise. I feel a being of such rational thinking and intelligence would realize the stupidity in hibernation when he in a much better living condition.
Real domesticated tortoises even do it.
“Why is a domesticated animal (who acts very sapient for that matter) acting like a wild animal and needs to bury itself in the dirt for 3-4 months?”
It’s not a matter of being domesticated, it’s part of Tanks nature.
They could of set something up in her home but he still needs to do it.
Couldn’t said better myself. I like Dash, but she’s a selfish ass for the most part.
Honestly no he isn’t missing much. Why is a domesticated animal (who acts very sapient for that matter) acting like a wild animal and needs to bury itself in the dirt for 3-4 months? Dash again making a total ass of herself going to great lengths to prevent something that should not even happen from happening.
*overreaction
Yes you are, Dash’s over reason and the lengths she goes to(and fall out from it) to try and stop it are something to see.
@Prof.NightJack
Oh. I’m not missing anything interesting then.
He’s hibernating.
No.
