I like to think it was a joke about how pointless it was to try and take this supposedly sad scene seriously.
Thankfully, this bullshit trait of AJ’s was a one-time thing.
Just like she immediately caught on the insincerety of equalized ponies’ smiles.
Pinkie claims she can see Applejack cry on the inside, which may just be a joke. However, her sister is Maud, who almost never changes expression, but Pinkie is still able to notice when she’s ‘never been this excited before!’ Looks like Pinkie still is amazing at reading hidden emotions!
