I doubt anyone but a couple hippies call it anything but QCI. You don’t see anyone seriously calling the Falklands the Malvinas, no matter what a maps says. Another pointless thing; so bad, the wikipedia discussion page is locked because the editors got tired of it.
I remember a buddy of mine bitching about that back when they were considering it (he was pissed mainly because he was born there).
Well, I guess that would make sense.
Because that’s the aboriginal name for it. Us whities came in, changed the name, and apparently pissed off the natives resulting In it being changed back.

They renamed it Haida Gwaii. I’m from Vancouver island so I never hear the end of that damn place
