Description

I’m almost certain that I’m not the only one to have thought of this with today’s episode.

True, there are not many iconic moments to draw from in Groundhog Day… Only one I could think of is the one where Bill is driving off a cliff with the groundhog at the wheel, but that doesn’t fit the episode at all.
Inception on the other end has so many crazy visuals, and I think you chose the best one… Applebloom fighting her shadow in the hallway beats anything you could have done with G.D.
Hmmm, now I want to go watch Inception again.

Dunno. I woulda stayed in the “Ha, awesome- I can do whatever I want, because it all resets tomorrow” stage for quite some while.

There’s also the morbid curiosity around the death aspect.

Perhaps I’m just odd in that way.

But, yeah- the fact that it’s a multilayered dream sequence is what draws the parallels between this episode and Inception as the stronger one, I think. Or at least more direct.

It’s also just easier- I’d probably have to draw out a sequence to display a parallel reflecting Groundhog Day; Inception has this instantly recognisable hallway scene. Much easier for a quick doodlesketch.

Wouldn’t call Groundhog Day nightmarish? Bill Murray is trapped in that loop for who knows how many times, he even starts committing suicide. He kills himself at least thrice! And in the end he has to learn to change his attitude and find peace to escape the loop, like Applebloom. How each loop starts, the despair and the resolution fits G.D.
Only thing in common with Inception is that she is dreaming. Like all the other Luna/CMC episodes.

I wouldn’t really call Groundhog Day nightmarish. Inception kinda fit the bill a little better in terms of tone.

Inception was more psychological thriller, which matches the situation in accordance with AppleBloom’s perspective.

Groundhog Day was Bill Murray being Bill Murray- more of an exasperation/ “Whatever. Fuck it”.

Episode about a character waking up to a nightmarish constant loop she can’t seem to escape from.
Most people think of Inception rather than Groundhog Day.
