No, her eyes being derped in “Friendship is Magic, Part 1” was a joke by an animator who assumed the composition of the shot would hide her face. When the shot was changed and Derpy’s eyes were revealed, the staff decided to just go with it rather than have her eyes redone.
They also do the derped eyes when a character’s just being silly, which I think was the intent in this case.
Well they did admit that Derpy ’ s eyes were an animation error but they just went with it since the fandom adored her. So I would say this counts as an error.
Derped eyes isn’t an animation error. They do it all the time usually as a quick joke.
