By going around looking for things that kinda look like a few of the many traits they ascribe to their enemies, then thinking to themselves “I found another one!” For example, they might target a logical opinion which is vaguely similar to one they’ve decided to hate, or a person who does something they consider “bad” but doesn’t hold any of the opinons they hate, and think of them as the same thing. This behavior reinforces their idea of hated enemies who must be destroyed, without making said idea more coherent.
If the hate is aimless, how do they have targets?
No, it doesn’t, because she’s the exact opposite of that. The meme comes from people who think that every evil politician represents the targets of their aimless hate.
How do I explain ‘triggers’? Well..
The more radical advocates for this thing called social justice, most notably on Tumble, like to put ‘trigger warnings’ on sensitive topics like ‘war’, ‘racism’, ‘sexism’, ‘violence’, the list goes on, because it might trigger an emotional meltdown on the readers’ or viewers’ end. I guess there’s more to it than that, but personally I don’t agree with the idea; granted while I can see why it might sometimes be useful, especially for certain shell-shocked veterans, I like to remain hopeful that most people on the internet have thicker skins than that. I mean, it’s not like just talking about these things is inherently hurtful, right?
At least you’re not getting ‘tiggered’, bunny-ears~
To be honest Starlight felt more like a villain out of 1984 and Animal Farm than a metaphor for SJW. That being said it’s actually difficult to tell the difference considering recent events.
Mostly communists, cult leaders, and dictators, but she’s definitely got the ego and the “the rules don’t apply to me” mentality.
