That’s a modern recontextualization. The etymology is basically French for “small cannonball.”

And considering that Rainbow Dash can break the sound barrier I doubt that a slingshot “bullet” can be compared in speed to a gun bullet if compared to Rainbow Dash.
Actually, the word “bullet” was originally applied to a slings projectile.
“May the Best Pet Win,” with Rainbow Dash saying how a pet would have to be “quick as a bullet” to keep up with her.
When was that?
Well, it is a kid’s show, and the medical professionas are themselves equine, so some greater degree of compassion should be expected. Also, firearms have only ever been alluded to once, so they probably don’t have any on hoof.
I have to say that this cliche always comes to my mind whenever I see a pony in the hospital. I’m surprise the show has never made a reference to that cliche yet.
